Anguilla is a British overseas territory in the Caribbean. It is one of the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles, lying east of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and directly north of Saint Martin.

Area: Approximately 91 square kilometers (approximately 35 square miles).

Population: Approximately 15,000 people (as of 2023 estimate).

Language: The official language is English.

Climate:

Anguilla has a tropical climate with a dry season from January to April and a rainy season from August to November. The temperature does not fluctuate much and the islands are vulnerable to hurricanes.

Economy:

Anguilla’s economy is largely based on tourism, offshore incorporation and management, offshore banking, and fishing.

Government:

As a British Overseas Territory, the monarch of the United Kingdom is the head of state of Anguilla and the territory’s executive authority is exercised on her behalf by the Governor of Anguilla.

Education:

Education in Anguilla is compulsory between the ages of 5 and 17, and is free to all children. The system of education is based on the British system and the curriculum is of a very high standard.

Culture:

Anguillan culture is predominantly a combination of African, British, and other European cultures. The island is known for its traditional boat racing, which has historic and cultural significance. Music, particularly calypso, reggae, and soca, is also an important part of Anguillan culture.
