Geography:

Argentina is located in the southern half of South America. It is the second-largest country in South America after Brazil, and the fourth-largest country in the Americas. It is bordered by Chile to the west, Bolivia and Paraguay to the north, Brazil to the northeast, Uruguay and the South Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Drake Passage to the south.

Area: Approximately 2.78 million square kilometers (approximately 1.07 million square miles).

Population: Approximately 45 million people (as of 2023 estimate).

Language: The official language is Spanish.

Climate:

Due to its large geographical extent, Argentina has a diverse climate. It ranges from subtropical in the north to subpolar in the far south.

Economy:

Argentina has a mixed economy with a high rating on the Human development index and a relatively high GDP per capita, with a considerable internal market size and a growing share of the high-tech sector.

Government:

Argentina is a federal democratic republic, with a President as the head of state and government.

Education:

Education is a responsibility shared by the national government, the provinces and federal district and private institutions. The education system is highly inclusive, with programs for minorities, the handicapped, and adults.

Culture:

Argentinian culture has significant European influences. Buenos Aires, its cultural capital, is largely characterized by both the prevalence of people of European descent and of European styles in architecture. The other big influence is the gauchos and their traditional country lifestyle of self-reliance.

Argentina is known for tango music and dance, steaks, and its soccer passion. It has won the World Cup twice and is home to some of the world’s most successful football clubs.
