Interview Martin Luther

Martin Luther

Martin Luther was a German professor of theology and a key figure in the Protestant Reformation. He was born in 1483 in Eisleben, Germany, and was ordained as a priest in 1507. He became increasingly disillusioned with the Catholic Church, particularly its sale of indulgences, which he saw as a corruption of the church’s teachings. In 1517, he famously nailed his 95 theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, calling for reform within the church. Luther’s ideas sparked a movement that would eventually lead to the formation of Protestantism. He translated the Bible into German, making it accessible to ordinary people, and his teachings influenced the development of Western Christianity. He was excommunicated by the Catholic Church in 1521, but continued to preach and teach until his death in 1546. Today, Luther is remembered as a key figure in the history of Christianity, and his ideas continue to inspire and shape religious thought.
