King Charles, born on November 14, 1948, is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He was educated at Gordonstoun School and later at Trinity College, Cambridge. After serving in the British Navy, he began his royal duties in 1969, and in 1971 was invested as the Prince of Wales. Throughout his life, King Charles has been a strong advocate for environmentalism and has championed sustainable living. He is also an advocate for traditional architecture, promoting the use of local materials and designs. He has received numerous awards for his environmental work and is the author of several books on the subject. King Charles has been married twice. His first marriage to Lady Diana Spencer ended in divorce in 1996, and he married Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005. They have two children together, Prince William and Prince Harry.

Charles became king upon his mother’s death on 8 September 2022. At the age of 73, he became the oldest person to accede to the British throne, after having been the longest-serving heir apparent and Prince of Wales in British history. His coronation took place at Westminster Abbey on 6 May 2023.
