Interview Queen Victoria

Queen Victoria

Queen Victoria was born in 1819 in London, England. She was the only child of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld. She ascended to the throne at the young age of 18 and reigned for 63 years, making her the longest-reigning British monarch in history. During her reign, the British Empire expanded greatly and she oversaw significant social and economic changes, including the Industrial Revolution and the abolition of slavery. Queen Victoria married Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha in 1840 and together they had nine children. When Albert died in 1861, Victoria went into a deep state of mourning and withdrew from public life for a period of time. She was known for her strong personality and deep devotion to her family. Queen Victoria passed away in 1901 at the age of 81.
