???? Let’s Read Together: Seeing Christmas

Hello, my reading friends! I’m Ani, and I’m so happy you’re here to read with me. Today, we have a special story about Christmas. Are you ready to see what Christmas is all about?

What Do We See at Christmas?

At Christmas time, there are many wonderful things to see. Let’s explore them together as we read “Seeing Christmas” by Karen Stacy, with pictures by Joel Schoon Tanis.

The Christmas Tree

The Christmas tree is full of shiny ornaments and happy memories. It brings us so much joy!

Toys and Gifts

We love toys! We can’t wait to open them and play all day. The gifts are wrapped so nicely, and they make us feel excited!

Twinkling Lights

The lights on the tree sparkle and shine, making everything look so beautiful.

Family Time

Our family is together, no matter how far apart we are or how the weather is. Being with family is the best!

Yummy Food

The food tastes so good! We are lucky to have such delicious meals to enjoy.

A Snowy Village

The little village is all lit up and covered in snow. It looks like a magical winter wonderland!

Stockings Full of Surprises

We hang our stockings and fill them with sweet little gifts. They are small but mean a lot to us.

What Christmas Really Means

But wait, is this what Christmas is all about? Some people say no, but I want to say: Yes, it is! And here’s why:

  • The tree reminds us of Jesus, full of love and memories.
  • The toys bring joy, just like Jesus does for everyone.
  • The lights remind us that Jesus shines in our hearts.
  • Our family shows us the love and patience of Jesus.
  • The gifts remind us of Jesus’ kindness and love.
  • The food is like Jesus’ goodness, filling us with happiness.
  • The village glows with the light of Jesus inside us.
  • The stockings remind us that Jesus is always ready to bless us.

So you see, Jesus is everywhere at Christmas. If you look closely, you will find Him in all these special things.

Seeing the Bigger Picture

Did you notice how the pictures in the story started small and then got bigger? Sometimes, seeing the bigger picture helps us understand things better.

  1. What is your favorite thing to see or do during Christmas, and why does it make you happy?
  2. Can you think of a time when you felt really excited about a gift or surprise? What was it, and how did it make you feel?
  3. How do you celebrate Christmas with your family or friends, and what special traditions do you have that make it fun?
  1. Christmas Tree Ornament Creation: Let’s make our own Christmas tree ornaments! Gather some colorful paper, scissors, glue, and any decorations you like (like stickers or glitter). Create a shape you love, like a star or a heart, and decorate it. While you work, think about what makes your Christmas tree special and how it reminds you of love and memories. Share your ornament with your family and tell them why it’s special to you.

  2. Light Exploration Walk: Take a walk with your family around your neighborhood to see the Christmas lights. As you look at the twinkling lights, think about how they make you feel. Do they remind you of something special? Talk with your family about how the lights remind you of the happiness and brightness in your heart, just like the story says Jesus shines in our hearts.

  3. Family Story Time: Gather with your family and share stories about your favorite Christmas memories. Each person can share a story about a time they felt joy, love, or kindness during Christmas. As you listen, think about how these stories show the love and patience of being together, just like the story says our family shows us the love of Jesus.

Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:

Hello, my reading friends! It’s Ani. Thank you for coming to read with me. If you like these stories, be sure to subscribe and make sure to watch all the way through because I’m going to do some shout-outs at the end. Are you ready for a story?

Well, at Christmas time, there are many things we see around us that can remind us of Jesus. Let’s find out what some of them are as we read “Seeing Christmas.” If you have a copy, go get it so you can read along with me.

“Seeing Christmas” by Karen Stacy, illustrated by Joel Schoon Tanis.

It’s that time of year! Are you ready to see? Come take a look at Christmas with me.

The tree, with all of the ornaments, tradition, and memories, brings so much enjoyment.
The toys—we can hardly wait to open them up and play all day.
The lights—they sparkle and shine, filling the room with beauty divine.
Our family—we’re all here together, no matter the distance or roughest of weather.
The gifts—it’s very exciting! They’re wrapped up all pretty and oh so inviting.
The food—it tastes just like bliss. We are so very blessed to be eating like this.
The village—it stands all aglow, lit up and covered in a blanket of snow.
The stockings—we almost forgot! Sweet little gifts that still mean a lot.

But wait, is this what Christmas is all about? Some say no, but I want to shout: Yes, it is! So perfectly!

And here is what I hope you’ll see:
The tree is Jesus, full of memories and love. Our history together—it all comes from above.
The toys are Jesus because they bring joy to sweet little girls and cute little boys.
The lights are Jesus; they remind us He shines in our hearts with peace throughout all of time.
Our family is Jesus, now that is for sure. We are here for each other with patience that endures.
The gifts are Jesus, all given in kindness, for He’s renewed our hearts and healed all our blindness.
The food is Jesus; we taste His goodness in each little bite—there is flavor and fullness.
The village is Jesus, lit up from inside—a gentle reminder that within us He abides.
The stockings are Jesus, but He never forgets—full of faithfulness, always ever ready to bless.

So you see, it’s all Jesus; He’s everywhere. If you look, you will find Him, so be fully aware.

Did you notice how at the beginning of the book everything on the pages was close up? Then, as the story progressed, the pictures expanded and we had a whole new view. Sometimes a bigger view of things can change our whole perspective.
