Today, we have a wonderful book about Easter that I really love. It’s called “That Grand Easter Day.” If you have the book, go get it so we can read together!

This is the place where Jesus first lay before He got up on that special Easter day. There was a big stone that blocked the way to where Jesus was resting.
There was a man who was a bit grumpy. He stood with his sword in front of the tomb and watched over the stone that blocked the way to where Jesus was.
Nearby, there was a cute bunny munching on a flower. The bunny was next to the grumpy man who was guarding the stone.
Some ladies came with sweet-smelling spices and perfume. They wanted to pour them over Jesus. They walked past the bunny and the grumpy man guarding the stone.
Suddenly, an angel appeared, shining bright! The angel said, “He’s not here, don’t be afraid,” to the ladies. The grumpy man got scared and ran away quickly, leaving the bunny all alone.
The stone was rolled away, and the place where Jesus lay was now empty. The disciples, Jesus’ friends, heard the good news and ran to see. They found the tomb empty, with only some cloth left behind.
This is Jesus who gives us new life. He rose up on Easter for everyone, including you and me. The disciples found the empty tomb and knew Jesus was alive!
I’m so thankful for Jesus and the love He has for all of us. He brings happiness and hope to our lives. I hope you have a very happy Easter! See you next time!
Stone Rolling Experiment: Let’s explore how heavy stones can be moved! Find a small ball or a round object at home. Imagine this is the big stone in front of the tomb. Try rolling it across different surfaces like carpet, grass, or a smooth floor. Which surface makes it easier or harder to roll? Talk about how the stone in the story might have been moved. Can you think of ways to move a big stone with your friends?
Bunny Observation Walk: Just like the bunny in the story, let’s go on a nature walk! Look for bunnies or other animals in your neighborhood or garden. What are they doing? Are they munching on flowers or hopping around? Draw a picture of what you see and share it with your family. How do you think the bunny felt when the grumpy man ran away?
Perfume and Spice Exploration: The ladies in the story brought spices and perfume. Ask an adult to help you find some spices or perfumes at home. Smell them and describe what they remind you of. Do they make you feel happy, calm, or excited? Create a small sachet using a piece of cloth and fill it with your favorite spice. Share it with someone special and tell them about the story of Easter.

Gone was the angel who’d sat by the tomb and spoke to the ladies with spice and perfume, but startled the man who fled with a zoom, leaving the bunny that munched on a bloom alone by the stone that was now rolled away, revealing the place where Jesus first lay before He arose on that grand Easter day.
Christ Jesus arose on that grand Easter day.
