In today’s lesson, we explored the whimsical story “Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs,” where Goldilocks makes curious choices that lead her to the home of three dinosaurs. As she samples their chocolate pudding and tries out their chairs and beds, she learns the importance of respecting others’ spaces when the dinosaurs return home unexpectedly. The lesson emphasizes curiosity and adventure while reminding us to seek permission before entering someone else’s home.
  1. What did Goldilocks find in the dinosaurs’ house?
  2. Why do you think Goldilocks should ask for permission before going into someone’s house?
  3. Can you tell me what happened when Goldilocks tried to sit in the chairs?

Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs

Hello, friends! Today, we’re going to read a fun and silly story about a little girl named Goldilocks. She sometimes makes silly choices and goes to places she shouldn’t. Let’s find out what happens when she meets some dinosaurs in the story “Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs,” retold by Mo Willems.

Meet the Dinosaurs

Once upon a time, there were three dinosaurs: Papa Dinosaur, Mama Dinosaur, and another dinosaur who lived with them. They had a cozy home with lots of yummy food.

Goldilocks Goes Exploring

One day, Goldilocks went exploring. She found the dinosaurs’ house and decided to go inside. She was very curious and wanted to see what was there.

Yummy Chocolate Pudding

Inside the house, Goldilocks found three big bowls of chocolate pudding. She tried the first bowl, but it was too hot. The second bowl was too cold. But the third bowl was just right, so she ate it all up!

Finding a Place to Rest

After eating, Goldilocks felt sleepy. She found three chairs to sit on. The first chair was too tall, the second chair was too short, but the third chair was just right. But oh no! It broke when she sat on it!

Time for a Nap

Goldilocks was very tired, so she went to find a bed. The first bed was too hard, the second bed was too soft, but the third bed was just right. She fell asleep right away.

The Dinosaurs Return

While Goldilocks was sleeping, the dinosaurs came back home. They were surprised to find someone had been eating their pudding and sitting in their chairs!

Goldilocks Wakes Up

Goldilocks woke up and saw the dinosaurs. She was so surprised! She quickly ran out of the house and all the way back home.

The End

And that’s the story of Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs. Remember, it’s always good to ask for permission before going into someone’s house. Did you spot any hidden pigeons in the story?

Fun Activity

Can you draw a picture of Goldilocks and the dinosaurs? What do you think they look like? Use your imagination and have fun!

  • What do you think Goldilocks was feeling when she found the dinosaurs’ house? Have you ever been curious about something new? What did you do?
  • If you were one of the dinosaurs, how would you feel if you found someone in your house? What would you say to Goldilocks?
  • Why do you think it’s important to ask for permission before going into someone’s house or using their things? Can you think of a time when you had to ask for permission?
  1. Chocolate Pudding Experiment: Let’s explore temperatures like Goldilocks did with the pudding! With the help of an adult, try tasting three different temperatures of water: warm, cold, and room temperature. Which one do you like best? Talk about why some things are too hot or too cold and how we can find the “just right” temperature for different foods and drinks.

  2. Chair Balancing Act: Just like Goldilocks tried different chairs, let’s try balancing! Gather a few different-sized cushions or pillows. Try sitting on them one by one and see which one feels the most comfortable. Can you stack them and balance on top? Discuss why some chairs or cushions might be too high or too low for you.

  3. Bedtime Story Adventure: Imagine you are Goldilocks and create your own story about visiting a new place. What kind of animals live there? What do you find inside their home? Draw a picture of your adventure and share your story with a friend or family member. Think about how Goldilocks felt when she met the dinosaurs and how you would feel in your story.
