???? Kids Book Read Aloud: Donkeys Can’t Take Bubble Baths!

Hello, Reading Friends!

Hi there! I’m Ani, and I’m so excited to read a story with you today. We have a super funny book about a donkey and a unicorn. What do you think will happen? Let’s find out together as we read “Donkeys Can’t Take Bubble Baths!” If you have the book, grab it so you can read along with me!

The Story Begins

Once upon a time, there was a Unicorn taking a nice, warm bubble bath.

“Hey, Unicorn!” said Donkey.

“Hi, Donkey! I’m taking my beauty bath,” replied Unicorn.

“Wow, that looks so bubbly!” said Donkey.

“It’s my special unicorn soap. It smells really nice!” said Unicorn.

“The water looks warm,” said Donkey.

“Yes, it’s very relaxing,” said Unicorn.

Donkey thought for a moment and said, “I haven’t had a bath since it rained last time.”

“What? It hasn’t rained in a month!” said Unicorn.

“Donkeys can wait a long time for a bath, but unicorns need to bathe every day to look magical,” explained Unicorn.

Can Donkey Join?

Donkey had an idea. “Maybe I could take a dip in your bubbly bath?”

“Oh, um, my tub is very small. It won’t fit both of us,” said Unicorn.

“I’ll just squeeze in a corner. You won’t even notice,” said Donkey.

“This is my special bubble bath time,” said Unicorn.

“Oh, okay, I understand. I’ll just go,” said Donkey sadly.

Unicorn thought about it and said, “Well, you know, I could maybe think about it.”

“Yippee!” cheered Donkey.

A Silly Bath Adventure

Donkey was so happy to join Unicorn in the bath. But then, it started to rain!

“Is that rain?” asked Donkey. “I didn’t need a bath after all!”

Donkey jumped out of the tub and into the muddy water outside.

“Oops!” said Donkey. “This is like a beauty bath in the mud!”

Unicorn laughed and said, “Look who’s beautiful now!”

They both had fun playing in the mud, and Unicorn realized that having fun with friends is the best thing of all.

Goodbye, Friends!

Thank you for reading with me today! Remember, having friends is very special. I hope you enjoyed our story. See you next time!

  1. What do you think makes bubble baths so special for Unicorn? Have you ever had a bubble bath or done something that felt special to you? What was it like?
  2. Donkey wanted to join Unicorn in the bath but ended up playing in the mud instead. Can you think of a time when something unexpected happened to you, and it turned out to be fun? What did you learn from that experience?
  3. Unicorn and Donkey had fun playing together in the end. Why do you think playing with friends is important? Can you share a time when you had fun with your friends or family?
  1. Bubble Bath Experiment: At home, try creating your own bubble bath with the help of an adult. Use different types of soap and see which one makes the most bubbles. Talk about why bubbles form and what makes them pop. Can you make a bubble that lasts a long time?

  2. Rainy Day Fun: Next time it rains, put on your rain boots and go outside to play. Notice how the rain feels and sounds. Can you find any puddles? What happens when you jump in them? Talk about how rain is like a natural bath for the earth.

  3. Friendship Role Play: With a friend or family member, act out a scene where you invite someone to join you in an activity, just like Unicorn and Donkey. How does it feel to share your special time with someone else? What other activities can you do together that are fun?

Hey, Unicorn!
Hi, Donkey!
What are you doing?
I’m taking my beauty bath.
Oh, that looks bubbly!
It’s my mega bubblicious unicorn soap.
It smells nice!
Yes, Donkey, it’s bath soap.
The water’s warm.
Yes, it’s so relaxing.
I haven’t had a bath since the last time it rained.
What?
It hasn’t rained in a month!
Donkeys can go a month without bathing, but unicorns need to take a bath every day so we can look magical.
Huh, maybe I could take a dip in your bubblicious bath soap.
Oh, um, my tub is very small. It won’t fit both of us.
I’ll just squeeze in a corner.
You won’t even notice.
This is my beauty bath, my special time, my bubble bath.
Oh, okay, I understand. I’ll just go.
Donkey is my friend.
Well, you know, I could maybe think about it.
Yippee!
