???? The Night the Reindeer Came to Play

Hello, my reading friends! It’s Ani here. I’m so happy you’re joining me for a fun holiday story. Are you ready to count some reindeer with me? Let’s get started!

The Story Begins

Once upon a time, one little reindeer came to my house. He was eating all our food and playing on his phone. I asked, “Who are you talking to, reindeer?”

More Reindeer Arrive

Then, two cheerful reindeer appeared! They wanted to play hide and seek. I said, “I see you, reindeer, behind the Christmas tree!”

Next, three playful reindeer were jumping on my bed, singing silly songs. I said, “Come down, reindeer, and play on the floor!”

Reindeer Adventures

Then, four naughty reindeer took our car for a ride! I shouted, “Come back, reindeer! You can’t drive!”

After that, five joyful reindeer were in our trees, shaking off the snow. I said, “Stop playing tricks, reindeer!”

Even More Reindeer Fun

Six happy reindeer climbed on the roof, throwing snowballs. I said, “Get down, reindeer, or I’ll count to eleven!”

Then, seven cozy reindeer were in our den, playing games. I said, “It’s getting late, reindeer. Time to rest.”

The Final Reindeer Count

Eight jolly reindeer said, “One more friend is coming. Our red-nosed pal will be here soon.” I said, “Okay, reindeer, that’s fine.”

Finally, nine merry reindeer said, “We have to go! It’s Christmas Eve, and we need to help Santa.” I said, “I love you, reindeer! Come back next year!”

The End

And that’s the end of our story! Would you like reindeer to come play at your house? It might get a little crowded!

  1. What would you do if a reindeer came to your house? Would you play games with them or ask them questions? Why?
  2. Can you think of a time when you had unexpected visitors, like the reindeer in the story? How did you feel, and what did you do?
  3. If you could invite any animal to your house for a day, which animal would it be and what fun activities would you do together?
  1. Reindeer Counting Game: Let’s practice counting just like in the story! Gather some small toys or objects at home and pretend they are reindeer. Start with one and keep adding more, just like in the story. Can you count up to nine reindeer? Try arranging them in different places around the room, like on the bed or behind a chair, and count them again. How many different ways can you count your reindeer?

  2. Reindeer Adventure Drawing: Imagine if reindeer came to your house! What fun adventures would they have? Draw a picture of your house with reindeer playing in different spots. Maybe they are in the kitchen, in the garden, or even on the roof! Share your drawing with a friend or family member and tell them about the reindeer’s adventures.

  3. Reindeer Observation Walk: Go on a walk with a grown-up and look for things that remind you of the reindeer story. Can you find something that looks like a reindeer? Maybe a decoration or a picture? Count how many reindeer-like things you can find. Talk about what each reindeer might be doing if they were real. Would they be playing, eating, or resting?

Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:

One little reindeer showed up at my home. He was eating all our food and texting on his phone. I said, “Excuse me, reindeer, who are you talking to?” I turned my head and looked around. Next thing I know, there are two cheerful reindeer playing hide and seek. They tell me to close my eyes and make sure not to peek. I said, “I see you, reindeer, behind the Christmas tree!”

I turned my head and looked around. Next thing I know, there are three playful reindeer jumping on my bed, singing silly songs and messing up my spread. I said, “Now hey there, reindeer, come back down on the floor!”

I turned my head and looked around. Next thing I know, there are four naughty reindeer took off in our car, driving down the street, not getting very far. I said, “Get back here, reindeer! You’ve no license to drive!”

I turned my head and looked around. Next thing I know, there are five joyful reindeer hanging in our trees, shaking all the snow off and swaying in the breeze. I said, “Come on now, reindeer, stop playing silly tricks!”

I turned my head and looked around. Next thing I know, there are six happy reindeer climbed up on the roof, throwing snowballs in the air and picking at their hooves. I said, “Get down now, reindeer! I’ll count up to eleven.”

I turned my head and looked around. Next thing I know, there are seven cozy reindeer hanging out in our den, playing cards and board games until I yawned. Then I said, “So sorry, reindeer, it’s getting pretty late.”

I turned my head and looked around. Next thing I know, there are eight jolly reindeer who said, “Just one more friend. Our red-nosed pal will soon be here, then we’ll be off again.” I said, “Okay then, reindeer, I guess that should be fine.”

I turned my head and looked around. Next thing I know, there are nine merry reindeer who said, “It’s time to go! We have to carry Santa’s sleigh. It’s Christmas Eve, you know.” I said, “I love you, reindeer! Please do not go away.” They said, “Don’t worry, we’ll come back next year, same time, same day.”

The end. How would you like some reindeer to come play at your house? I think it might get a little bit crowded!
