Hi there! Do you want to know who I am? I’m a bear! More specifically, I’m a grizzly bear. Let me tell you all about my life!
I live in America, and I love places with little streams full of yummy salmon. Salmon are fish that I love to eat! But if I can’t find salmon, I also like to eat berries. They’re pretty tasty too!
I’m called a grizzly bear because of the fur on my back. It’s kind of grizzled, which means it looks a bit grayish. I have a fantastic sense of smell that helps me find food, especially those delicious salmon!
When winter comes, there’s not much food around, so I go to sleep for a long time. This is called hibernation. Before winter, I eat a lot during the summer and fall to get nice and fat. This way, I have enough energy stored in my body for my big sleep.
During hibernation, I don’t sleep in a bed like you do. I make a den, which is like a cozy little cave. Sometimes I dig it out with my big claws, or I find a nice cave to sleep in. I can sleep for five to six months! That’s a lot of snoozing!
There are many other kinds of bears too! There are polar bears, black bears, and spectacled bears. We bears are usually pretty shy and just want to be left alone to find our food.
Did you know that grizzly bears can run really fast? Even though we look big and slow, we can run as fast as a car on a city street! So, if you ever see a bear, it’s best to stay far away and let us do our thing.
Well, that’s all about me, the grizzly bear! I hope you enjoyed learning about my life. Now, where’s my salmon?
Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript:

How you doing? So you want to know who I am? I’m a bear! Yeah, I’m still working on it.
Okay, anyway, I live in America. Hey, not here, not here! Yeah, that’s more like it. What about a little stream with lots of nice, juicy salmon in it?
Hey, where’s the salmon? Okay, I get it. I talk, you give me salmon. Yeah, okay, it’s a deal!
So what kind of bear am I? I’m a grizzly bear. We’re called Grizzlies because look at the fur on my back! We have a great sense of smell that helps us find food, like nice, tasty salmon.
I said salmon! Okay, I’ll settle for berries. Not bad!
So what else do you need to know? Oh yeah, we go to sleep over the winter. That’s because there’s not much food around in the winter. This means that we fatten up in summer and fall so that we have reserves in our bodies for the big sleep.
We don’t sleep in beds; we make dens for ourselves, which we dig out with our big claws. Or sometimes we’re lucky and we find caves.
Hey, nice cave! We’ll sleep for five to six months here. That’s a lot of sleep!
There are lots of other kinds of bears: polar bears, black bears, spectacled bears. Really, we’re just kind of shy and want to be left alone to go hunt for food.
So where’s my salmon? Could you make them easier to catch? Do you think?
Hey, come back here!
