Do you love to travel like Timmy? I hope you enjoyed our story today. See you next time for another exciting adventure!

  • Timmy visited many different places around the world. If you could travel anywhere, where would you like to go and why?
  • Timmy tried new foods and saw interesting sights in each city. What is something new you have tried or seen recently? How did it make you feel?
  • Timmy learned about history and culture in each place he visited. Can you think of something interesting about your own town or city that you would like to share with others?
  1. Travel Map Creation: Let’s make a map of Timmy’s travels! Use a large piece of paper and draw a simple world map. Ask the children to help you mark the cities Timmy visited: London, Rome, New York, Moscow, Beijing, Tokyo, Cairo, Delhi, and Toronto. Use colorful stickers or markers to represent each city. Encourage the children to draw a small picture or symbol next to each city that reminds them of what Timmy did there, like a clock for London or a pyramid for Cairo.

  2. Travel Journal: Create a travel journal for Timmy. Provide each child with a small notebook or a few sheets of paper stapled together. Ask them to imagine they are Timmy and write or draw about their favorite place he visited. What did Timmy see, eat, or do there? Encourage them to use their imagination and add details like what Timmy might have felt or learned in each place.

  3. Local Adventure: Plan a mini-adventure in your own classroom or school. Set up different “stations” that represent the cities Timmy visited. For example, have a tea party for London, a pizza-making activity for Rome, or a Broadway-style sing-along for New York. Encourage the children to “travel” from station to station, experiencing a small piece of each culture. Ask them to observe and share what they liked best about each station and how it might be similar or different from their own experiences.

“Timmy’s Terrific Travels,” written by Murray Date and illustrated by A in California.

Timothy is a little gray furry mouse who packs his bags and leaves his house to travel and see a city each day and learn lots of things along the way. London is his first city to see, where he enjoys his first cup of tea. Timmy visits Big Ben and the London Eye and squeaks as it takes him up so high.

Timmy climbs the Spanish Steps of 174. At the top, he squeaks, “Huh, I can’t climb anymore!” He’s in Rome and sees the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, which he walks through. The Empire State Building in New York is very tall; its height makes Timmy feel so small. He visits the Statue of Liberty the same day and that night enjoys a show on Broadway.

In Moscow, Timmy sees the Red Square, where he takes lots of photographs to share. He sees cathedrals, museums, and Gorky Park, and views the Kremlin all lit up in the dark. Beijing is the next city on Timmy’s list, where the Forbidden City can’t be missed. He says, “I must see the Lama Temple and Tiananmen Square.”

There’s so much to do in Tokyo! The National Museum lights up Timmy’s eyes, where the samurai swords are a real surprise. He eats sushi, mochi, and noodles galore. Later that night, he sleeps with a twitch and a snore.

The Pyramids of Giza, built on the sand in Cairo, are a very mysterious land. Timmy the mouse enjoys a camel ride and has his photo taken side-by-side. In Delhi at the Red Fort, he sees a light show that uses all the colors of the rainbow. Timmy scurries along Chandni Chowk, a busy street where he has some Indian street food to eat.

Wow! There are dinosaurs and crystals to see in the Royal Ontario Museum, he says with glee. He’s in Toronto now and visits the Ripley’s Aquarium too, with its clear glass tanks and water so blue.

Timmy travels back home to plan his next trip. Will he travel on a plane, a train, or a ship? There are still more cities for the mouse to see. He’s had an amazing vacation, wouldn’t you agree? The world is so big, with so many wonderful places to see, and Timmy got to see quite a few, didn’t he?
