Welcome to Story Time!

Hello, friends! Today, we are going to have a fun story time with Ryan and Toby. They are excited to share a special book with us. Are you ready to join in the fun?

Five Little Pumpkins

The book we are reading is called “Five Little Pumpkins Are Growing in the Patch.” Let’s see what these pumpkins are up to!

Five Pumpkins in the Patch

Once upon a time, there were five little pumpkins growing in a patch. One pumpkin was so quick that nobody could catch it!

Isn’t that funny? Imagine a pumpkin running away!

Four Pumpkins in the Hay

Now, there are four little pumpkins jumping in the hay. A friendly farmer comes along and carries one away. Oh no, now there are only three!

Three Pumpkins on a Ride

Three little pumpkins go for a ride. One pumpkin is so busy looking at the view that it falls out of the side! Oops, now there are just two pumpkins left.

Two Pumpkins in the Store

Two little pumpkins are sitting in a store. One gets too excited and rolls out of the door. Oh dear, only one pumpkin is left now!

One Lonely Pumpkin

One little pumpkin is shining all alone. She misses her pumpkin friends and feels lonely. But don’t worry, pumpkins always find their way home!

All Together Again

At the end of the story, all five pumpkins are together again, glowing brightly on a cold and starry night. They look so pretty!

Thanks for Joining Story Time!

Thank you for joining Ryan and Toby for this fun story time. If you enjoyed the story, you can read more books and have more adventures. See you next time!

  • What do you think it would be like if pumpkins could really run or jump? Can you imagine other fruits or vegetables doing something funny?
  • Have you ever felt lonely like the last pumpkin in the story? What are some things that make you feel better when you miss your friends?
  • If you could go on an adventure with the pumpkins, where would you like to go and what would you do?
  1. Pumpkin Counting Adventure: Let’s go on a pumpkin counting adventure! Gather five small objects, like toy pumpkins or balls, and pretend they are the pumpkins from the story. Practice counting them together. Can you make up your own story about what happens to each pumpkin? Use your imagination and tell your story to a friend or family member.

  2. Pumpkin Patch Art: Create your own pumpkin patch art! Use orange paper or draw and color pumpkins on a piece of paper. Cut them out and arrange them in a patch. Can you make a scene where the pumpkins are doing something fun, like jumping in the hay or going for a ride? Share your artwork with the class and explain what your pumpkins are up to!

  3. Pumpkin Observation Walk: Go on a walk with an adult and look for pumpkins in your neighborhood or at a store. How many pumpkins can you find? Are they big or small? What colors are they? Talk about what you see and compare the pumpkins you find to the ones in the story. Do you think any of them are as quick as the pumpkin that nobody could catch?

I have a comment: in my backyard growing up, there was a blackberry patch!

Wow! Well, today’s book is “Five Little Pumpkins Are Growing in the Patch” by Make-Believe Ideas Limited. Ooh, let’s get started!

Is that the author? I’m not sure.

“Five Little Pumpkins Are Growing in the Patch.” One cannot be picked because he’s just too quick to catch!

Pumpkin pie!

Oh wow, Ryan, look! You can actually touch the pumpkins!

Oh cool, they’re like rubbery and squishy. These are fun!

Yeah, they’re fun to touch.

We can do this all day, but we should read the book!

Yeah, okay, we’ll play with it later. Right now, let’s read the book.

Deal?

Okay, ready? One, two, three…

Read them while you’re squeezing the pumpkin!

I can’t help it!

Four little pumpkins are jumping in the hay. Then a friendly farmer comes and carries one away.

Three little pumpkins are going for a ride. One is looking at the view and falls out of the side!

Ryan, we’re running out of pumpkins! We’re down to three.

What are you touching the pumpkin for?

What? Read the book!

Two little pumpkins are sitting in the store. One gets too excited and rolls out of the door.

Oh man, I hope he doesn’t roll into this!

What?

We’ll hear it!

There’s only two left, Ryan!

Well, I’m gonna play!

No, no, no! We go!

Okay, read the book!

One little pumpkin is shining all alone. She looks for all her pumpkin friends; she’s lonely on her own.

Oh Ryan, look! There’s only one pumpkin left!

Oh wow, I hadn’t noticed!

I wonder what’s gonna happen next in the book as we keep reading.

Yeah, we should definitely keep reading!

I’m not sure…

I know there’s only one left.

Five little pumpkins make such a pretty sight, glowing in the darkness on a cold and starry night.

So the moral of the story is pumpkins find their homes.

By the way, the rubbery is soft, but they may be a little squishy!
