Exploring the Great Green Room

In the story, we visit a magical place called the great green room. Inside, there’s a telephone and a bright red balloon. We also see a picture of a cow jumping over the moon! Isn’t that funny?

There are three little bears sitting on chairs, two cute kittens with a pair of mittens, a tiny toy house, and a young mouse. We also find a comb, a brush, and a bowl full of mush. And there’s a quiet old lady whispering, “Hush.”

Saying Goodnight to Everything

Now, it’s time to say goodnight to everything in the room. We say:

  • Goodnight room.
  • Goodnight moon.
  • Goodnight cow jumping over the moon.
  • Goodnight light and the red balloon.
  • Goodnight bears.

Join Us Next Time!

Thank you for joining us for this story time adventure. We hope you had fun! If you want to hear more stories, make sure to come back and join us next time. See you soon, friends!

  • What is your favorite part of the great green room, and why do you like it? Can you think of something special in your room that you would say goodnight to?
  • If you could add one more thing to the great green room, what would it be and why? How would it fit into the story?
  • Have you ever tried reading a story really fast like Ryan and Craig? How did it feel, and did you enjoy it? What other stories would you like to try reading quickly?
  1. Goodnight Hunt: Let’s go on a “Goodnight Hunt” in your own room! Look around and find different objects, just like in the great green room. Can you find a toy, a book, or something red? Once you’ve found a few items, practice saying goodnight to them just like in the story. This will help you notice all the special things around you!

  2. Draw Your Dream Room: Imagine your own magical room like the great green room. What would you have in it? Draw a picture of your dream room and include all the things you would say goodnight to. Maybe there’s a rainbow, a friendly dinosaur, or a cozy bed. Share your drawing with a friend or family member and tell them about your dream room.

  3. Story Time Rhythm: Try reading “Goodnight Moon” with a fun rhythm or beat. Clap your hands or tap your feet as you say goodnight to each item. This will make the story even more fun and help you remember the words. You can even create a little song with the goodnight phrases and perform it for your family!
