Welcome to Story Time!

Hello, friends! Today, we’re going to have a fun story time together. Our story is about a cool cat named Pete. Are you ready to join Pete on his Halloween adventure? Let’s go!

Pete the Cat’s Halloween Adventure

It’s Halloween, and Pete the Cat is super excited! He puts on his superhero costume because he’s going trick-or-treating. “I hope nothing too spooky happens,” Pete says. But don’t worry! Pete’s dad is with him, and they have flashlights to keep them safe.

Trick-or-Treat Time!

Pete and his dad step outside. The wind makes the leaves dance, and Pete sees something in the tree. “Oh, it’s just an owl,” Pete says. “That’s not too spooky!”

They walk to a neighbor’s house, and Pete rings the doorbell. “Trick or treat!” he says. The door opens, and it’s Callie! She’s not spooky at all. Callie joins Pete and his dad for more trick-or-treating fun.

More Halloween Fun

At the next house, Pete sees something in the yard. “Phew, it’s just a scarecrow,” he says. Pete and Callie ring the doorbell. “Trick or treat!” they say. Mrs. Gold, the crossing guard, opens the door. “Happy Halloween!” she says. “Your costumes are awesome!”

Suddenly, they hear a noise behind them. “What was that?” asks Callie. “Oh, it’s just our friend Emma,” Pete says. “Not spooky, but groovy!”

A Sweet Surprise

“One last house, then we’ll go home,” says Pete’s dad. Pete rings the doorbell. “Yikes! A spooky ghost!” Pete shouts. But it’s not a ghostโ€”it’s Grandma! She gives them treats and hugs.

Trick-or-treating wasn’t spooky at all. It was full of sweet surprises and fun with friends. Happy Halloween, everyone!

Let’s Celebrate Halloween!

Halloween is a time for dressing up, having fun, and getting yummy treats. Remember, even if things seem a little spooky, they’re usually just fun surprises. Have a great Halloween, and enjoy your treats!

  • What was your favorite part of Pete the Cat’s Halloween adventure, and why did you like it?
  • Have you ever dressed up in a costume for Halloween or another event? What did you dress up as, and how did it make you feel?
  • Can you think of a time when something seemed spooky at first but turned out to be fun or surprising? What happened?
  • Costume Creation: Let’s make our own superhero costumes just like Pete! Gather some old clothes, paper, and markers. Use your imagination to create a costume that makes you feel brave and strong. Once you’re dressed up, share your costume with your friends or family and tell them what makes your superhero special.

  • Spooky or Not? Go on a “spooky” adventure around your home or classroom. Look for things that might seem spooky at first, like shadows or unusual shapes. Then, take a closer look and discover what they really are. Share your findings with a friend and talk about how things aren’t always what they seem.

  • Story Time Role Play: Act out Pete’s Halloween adventure with your friends or family. Take turns being Pete, Callie, and other characters from the story. Use flashlights to make it more exciting, just like Pete and his dad. Talk about how Pete felt during his adventure and how he learned that things weren’t as spooky as they seemed.

Today’s book is “Pete the Cat: Trick or Treat” by James Dean. Let’s get started!

It’s Halloween, and Pete the Cat is excited to go trick-or-treating in his superhero costume. “I hope nothing too spooky happens,” says Pete. “Don’t worry,” says Pete’s dad. “We have our flashlights.”

“Let’s go trick-or-treating!” says Pete. They walk outside, and the wind rustles the leaves. Pete sees something moving in the tree. “It’s just an owl. That wasn’t too spooky,” says Pete.

On Halloween, it can get spooky, but luckily Dad is around. Nothing can get too spooky when Dad is there. If Pete gets spooked, he can hide behind Dad because he’s taller.

They arrive at a neighbor’s house, and Pete rings the bell. He hears a strange sound coming from the door. “Trick or treat!” says Pete. “Welcome!” It’s just Callie. She’s not too spooky. Callie joins Pete and his dad for trick-or-treating.

At the next house, there is something in the yard. “Phew, it’s just a scarecrow,” says Pete. That’s not too spooky. Pete rings the doorbell again. “Trick or treat!” says Pete and Callie. “Happy Halloween!”

“Awesome costume,” says Mrs. Gold, the crossing guard. “Very spooky, but not too spooky.”

Suddenly, they hear something behind them. “What was that?” asks Callie. “Oh, it’s just our friend Emma,” says Pete. “Not spooky, but groovy.”

“One last house and then we’ll go home,” says Pete’s dad. Pete rings the doorbell. “Yikes! It’s a spooky ghost!” screams Pete.

“Don’t worry, it’s just me,” says Grandma. Callie and Pete get treats and hugs. Trick-or-treating wasn’t too spooky at all; it was actually full of sweet surprises.

Happy Halloween!
