Welcome to Story Time!

Hello, friends! Today, we’re going to have a fun story time together. Are you ready? Let’s go on an adventure with Bumble, Bee, and Froggy!

Fun Fall Activities

Bumble and Bee love fall! They have a list of fun things to do. They want to jump in leaves, collect pine cones, and paint pumpkins. Painting pumpkins sounds like a great idea, but where can they find pumpkins?

Wishing for Pumpkins

Bumble and Bee try wishing for pumpkins, but it doesn’t work. Froggy comes to help and gives them pumpkins to paint. Hooray! Now they can have fun painting and carving their pumpkins.

Froggy’s Apple Pie

Froggy is making a yummy apple pie, but he forgot the butter! Bumble and Bee promise to help. They try to remember to get the butter, but they get distracted by a cute bunny and forget!

Remembering the Butter

They decide to get everything that starts with the letter “B” to help them remember. They bring bananas, broccoli, and even balloons, but no butter! Oops! Next time, they will try to remember better.

Winter Fun with Friends

Winter is coming, and Froggy has a cozy spot to stay warm. Bumble and Bee don’t want Froggy to be lonely, so they bring lots of fun things to do together, like games, puzzles, and even hot cocoa with marshmallows!

Sharing and Caring

Froggy is so happy to have friends who care. They all enjoy the winter together, sharing stories and having fun. It’s always nice to have friends who think of you!

Being Thankful

At the end of the day, Bumble, Bee, and Froggy are thankful for their friendship and all the fun they have together. Remember, it’s always nice to be thankful for the people and things that make us happy!

Thank you for joining our story time! We hope you had fun. See you next time for more adventures!

  • What are some fun activities you like to do in the fall, just like Bumble and Bee? Do you have a favorite fall activity?
  • Have you ever helped a friend or family member with something important, like Bumble and Bee tried to help Froggy with the butter? How did it make you feel?
  • Can you think of a time when you were thankful for your friends or family, just like Bumble, Bee, and Froggy? What are some things you are thankful for?
  1. Leaf Jumping Adventure: Go outside with an adult and collect some fallen leaves. Arrange them in a pile and take turns jumping into them, just like Bumble and Bee! While you’re playing, think about the different colors and shapes of the leaves. Can you find a leaf that is red? How about one that is yellow? Talk about why leaves change colors in the fall.

  2. Pumpkin Painting Party: With the help of an adult, find a small pumpkin or use a paper cutout of a pumpkin. Use paints, markers, or stickers to decorate your pumpkin. As you paint, think about the story of Bumble, Bee, and Froggy. What kind of face or design would you like to create? Share your pumpkin with a friend or family member and tell them about your design.

  3. Memory Game with the Letter “B”: Play a memory game using objects that start with the letter “B,” just like Bumble and Bee tried to remember the butter. Gather items such as a ball, a book, a block, and a banana. Place them on a table and cover them with a cloth. Peek under the cloth for a few seconds, then cover them again. Try to remember all the items you saw. How many can you recall? This game helps improve your memory skills!

I have something to say, Craig. I want to give a big shout-out to Velcro shoes for saving me from embarrassment because I didn’t know how to tie my shoes until I was in the 15th grade—like junior year in college! Who knows?

Today’s book is “Bumbling: Let’s Be Thankful” by Ross Bjork. Let’s get started!

[Music]

Let’s paint pumpkins! Jumping in leaves was so much fun. What should we do next, Bee?

I will look at our list: Bumble and Bee’s fun fall activities—collect pine cones, jump in leaves, paint pumpkins. Let’s paint pumpkins!

Great idea! Where do we get pumpkins?

I wish I knew. Maybe we can wish for a pumpkin to appear. It’s worth a try! We wish for a pumpkin.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is not going to work. I’ve wished for a pumpkin every year, and every year I’ve had to buy one. If you don’t want to buy one and you don’t want to wish for one, you can grow one. Get some land, prepare the soil, plant the pumpkin seeds, water them, and take care of it. Long story short, you’re going to have to invest some money to get this pumpkin. Yeah, wishes are out.

It did not work. Maybe Froggy can help us!

[Music]

Oh no, our wish went all wrong! We turned Froggy into a pumpkin. Oh, Froggy, we’re so sorry! We did not mean to—

Say something! Anything!

Bumblebee, we can hear you, Froggy.

Of course you can hear me; I am right behind you, Froggy. Is it really you?

Yes! We thought we turned you into a pumpkin.

No, I made that pumpkin, and I overheard you wishing for pumpkins to paint, so I got you these—our very own pumpkins!

Thank you, Froggy! Let’s carve and paint them!

Oh, that looks so much fun! I wish I had a stinger so I could carve pumpkins.

Oh yeah, but wishing’s not going to get you there. You know, I think the only way this can happen is if you become a scientist in genetics. You have to study hard in school, go to college, study science, study genetics, start a lab, get DNA from a bee and a human, or just get a knife and carve the pumpkin yourself. Also, have your mom, dad, uncle, or older sibling watch you. You could do that, I guess, but you can’t wish for it, right?

Froggy’s famous apple pie!

Hi, Froggy! What are you doing?

I’m about to make my famous apple pie recipe. I just need to make sure I have everything: flour, sugar, salt… but where is—

Oh no! What’s wrong, Froggy?

I forgot to get the butter.

You forgot to get the butter? Oh no!

Do not worry! We will get the butter and we will not forget.

Thank you! That is very sweet.

Buzz zoom! We cannot forget to get the butter, but we are very forgetful. What have we ever forgotten?

I forget.

Well, we will not forget to get the butter. Maybe I should write down “butter.”

Or we can just keep saying it!

Even better! We will not forget the butter. We will not forget the butter. We will not forget the—

Look, a bunny! It is so cute! Can we follow it?

No, we have to get the—

Oh no! I forgot what we cannot forget! All I wrote down was—

Then we just get everything we see that starts with a “B.”

Great idea! Everything starts with “B”: bananas, broccoli, balloons, brushes, bandages, buckets, basketballs, boots, bicycles, bowling balls, buttons…

Here you go, Froggy! Everything you need to bake your pie!

I do not see any butter.

Oh no! We forgot!

This time we will not forget!

[Music]

Look, a squirrel! Oh man, I wish I wasn’t so forgetful. I probably should start using a planner.

But if you don’t want to wish and you don’t want to buy a planner, what you can do is start doing logic and mental exercise games. With enough hard work and time, you can increase your mind’s capacity for memory.

I’ll probably just get a planner.

You could do that! Both are good options—better than wishes, right?

Yeah, definitely better!

Froggy’s winter hideout.

Winter is almost here! I can feel it in the air. It is my favorite season! I dug out the perfect place in the mud to stay warm and sleep—a peaceful spot with just enough room for me, my blanket, my books, and my best friends.

What are you two doing down here?

We did not want you to be alone all winter. It was so quiet and nothing to do, so we brought things to do!

Bumble, stuff these things!

[Music]

Arts and crafts, games and puzzles, my electric guitar, my new drum set—boom crash bop! I’m not very good, but I have all winter to practice the bebops!

[Music]

Where should I unpack, and where should I put my collection of hats? There’s not enough room!

We also brought your favorite hot cocoa and marshmallows—the big squishy ones! Those are my favorite!

Squish, squish!

I guess there’s always room for marshmallows and friends. Thank you for thinking of me!

Oh man, I wish I had friends that would bring me hot cocoa and marshmallows, but I guess I just have to go buy them.

You know what, Ryan? Instead of going to buy them, you can just tell your friends that you like marshmallows.

That’s what I’m doing, Craig!

[Music]

Off you go, bud!

Now, yeah, I want the marshmallows in hot cocoa. My voice is parched!

Okay, okay, all right! I’ll be back!

[Music]

Thankful by Ross Bjork.
