???? A Little Thanksgiving Spot

Hello, my reading friends! I’m so happy you’re here to read with me. Today, we’re going to learn about being thankful every day, not just on Thanksgiving. Are you ready for a fun story?

What is Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving is a special day that happens on the last Thursday of November. It’s a time when we think about all the things we are thankful for. Some people think of yummy turkey and pumpkin pies, but it’s really about being grateful!

Meet Thankful Spot!

I’m Thankful Spot! I love Thanksgiving because it’s all about saying “thank you” for the things we love. What are some things you are thankful for? Maybe you love books, unicorns, or even toilet paper! Let’s think of more things together.

Making a Thankful List

Every day, I write down things I’m thankful for. Today, I’m thankful for my hot cocoa, a beautiful sunrise, and being in this story with you. You can make a list too! Being thankful makes us happy and helps us feel good.

Being Thankful Every Day

Did you know you can be thankful every day, not just on Thanksgiving? When you wake up, think of three things you are thankful for. At night, think of three more. This helps you feel happy and sleep well!

Sharing Gratitude

When you say “thank you” to someone, it makes them feel loved and happy. Thank you for reading with me today! I’m so grateful for all of you, my reading friends.

  1. Thankful Treasure Hunt: Go on a treasure hunt around your home or classroom to find things you are thankful for. Look for items that make you happy or help you every day, like your favorite toy or a cozy blanket. Once you find them, share with a friend or family member why you are thankful for each item.

  2. Gratitude Drawing: Draw a picture of something or someone you are thankful for. It could be your family, a pet, or even a sunny day. Use lots of colors to make your picture bright and cheerful. A Little Thanksgiving Spot, written and illustrated by Diane Alber.

I’m Thankful Spot! Do you know what day it is? It’s Thursday. It’s not just any Thursday; it’s the last Thursday of November. I’m so excited! What day is that? It’s Thanksgiving!

When some people think of Thanksgiving, they may think of a turkey or pumpkin pies, but Thanksgiving is really all about being thankful. Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday! Not only does my name and Thanksgiving have the word “thank” in common, but people spend all day thinking of things they are thankful for.

I see some of the things other people are grateful for: love, books, unicorns. What else do you see, reading friends? Let’s give it a try! What is something you are thankful for?

Toilet paper! I think we are all thankful for toilet paper. Let me show you my list to give you some more ideas. I’m thankful no one can see me. This is a great list! I actually write down things that I’m thankful for every day. Today, I’m adding: I’m thankful for my yummy hot cocoa this morning, a beautiful sunrise, and being in a new Thanksgiving book.

I’m thankful for people who don’t think of me on Thanksgiving. We should make a list too; that would be great! You know, there are so many benefits to being thankful. I’m thankful for books that make you not think of turkeys. That’s why you don’t need to wait until Thanksgiving to be thankful. You could be thankful all year!

You could be thankful every morning, and you can be thankful every night. When you wake up, try and think of three things you are thankful for. This can help grow your confidence! When you are thankful for who you are, you don’t compare yourself to others. At the end of the day, think of three more things you are thankful for. Positive thoughts help your brain rest.

Did you know that showing gratitude can help others feel loved too? Saying thank you makes others feel appreciated. Thank you for reading with us! Wow, I didn’t realize how great being thankful is. We have started our list. Thank you for showing us that Thanksgiving might be pretty great after all.

Do you want to know one of the things that I’m most grateful for? You! I’m so thankful that you’re all a part of my reading family. Alright, let’s do some shout-outs! Today I’m sending them out to Stella and Wesley in Mississippi, Kate and Andy in Indiana, Alyssa in Elwood City, Pennsylvania, Claire in Monticello, Kentucky, Pippa and Liza in Grand Haven, Michigan, Melody and Aaron in Bangalore, India, Kaylee in California, Helen in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Maeve, Mickey, and Faye in Bayville, New Jersey, as well as Aaron in Idaho.

Hello to each and every one of you! I’m so grateful that we all get to read together, no matter where in the world we live. I hope you enjoyed our story today. See you next time!
