Hello, Little Readers!

Hi there, friends! It’s Ani, and I’m so happy you’re here at my house. Are you ready for a fun story? Today, I have some amazing kids with me to help read. Let’s meet them: Lexi, Macy, Lincoln, Kaia, and Kylie. We’re going to read a book called “Nobody Likes Unicorns.” If you have the book, you can read along with us!

Meet the Unicorns and Llamas

The story is called “Nobody Likes Unicorns,” and it’s written by Karen Kilpatrick with pictures by Herman Blanco. Let’s find out what happens!

Unicorns and Their Colors

Some people say nobody likes unicorns because they only come in one color. But llamas are different! They come in lots of colors like black, gray, tan, brown, red, and white. But wait, unicorns have colorful rainbow manes too!

Unicorns and Llamas: Soft and Cuddly

Unicorns shed their hair everywhere, but llamas are super soft and cuddly. Llama wool is light, warm, and keeps you dry. Isn’t that nice?

Unicorn Horns and Llama Hugs

Unicorns have long, pointy horns, which can be a little scary. But llamas are huggable and have no sharp points. They have soft wool, fluffy tails, and long toenails. Just be careful with those toenails!

Unicorns and Their Magic

Unicorn horns are actually helpful, not hurtful. They can even help make yummy s’mores! And guess what? Unicorns have glittery rainbow poop that smells like flowers. How magical is that?

Finding Unicorns and Llamas

Unicorns can be hard to find, but llamas are always around when you need them. Even if you can’t see a unicorn, you can always have unicorn toys and decorations to feel close to them.

Unicorn Wishes

Unicorns are magical and can grant wishes. Just make a wish, and who knows what might happen? Wish, wish, sneak, whoosh! Wow, now I’m a llamacorn! See, everyone loves unicorns!

The End

The llama in our story learned to love unicorns. I hope you enjoyed our story today. See you next time for more fun adventures!

  • What do you think makes unicorns special, and why do you think some people might say “nobody likes unicorns”? Can you think of something unique about unicorns that you like?
  • If you could have a magical unicorn or a cuddly llama as a pet, which one would you choose and why? What fun activities would you do with your magical or cuddly friend?
  • Have you ever wished for something magical to happen? What was your wish, and how did it make you feel to imagine it coming true?
  1. Colorful Creations: Gather some crayons, markers, or colored pencils and draw your own unicorn or llama. Think about the colors mentioned in the story. Can you make a unicorn with a rainbow mane or a llama with different colored wool? Share your drawing with a friend or family member and explain why you chose those colors.

  2. Soft and Cuddly Exploration: Find different materials around your home that feel soft and cuddly, like a llama’s wool. You might find a soft blanket, a fluffy pillow, or a cozy sweater. Touch and feel each item and describe how it feels. Which one is your favorite and why?

  3. Magical Wishes: Think about a wish you would make if you met a magical unicorn. Write down or draw your wish on a piece of paper. Then, share your wish with a friend or family member. Ask them what they would wish for if they met a unicorn. How do your wishes compare?

Nobody likes unicorns. They are so… well, they only come in one color. Llamas are way better! We come in lots of different solid and spotted colors like black, gray, tan, brown, red, and white. But what about their manes? Oh right, I guess they do have colorful rainbow manes, but let’s not focus on that. Moving on!

Second, they shed everywhere. Llamas are way better! We are super soft and cuddly. In fact, llama wool is light, warm, and water-repellent.

Oh, how embarrassing! Unicorns have long, pointy horns. That’s very dangerous. Llamas are way better! We are huggable and harmless with no sharp points anywhere. Soft wool, fluffy tails, and long fashionable toenails. Maybe just stay away from those to be safe.

But unicorn horns are made to help, not hurt. I guess I can imagine how that horn could be useful, and I love s’mores!

Fourth, they poop a lot. It’s true! I had a cousin who had a friend that had an uncle who had a teacher who was friends with a unicorn, and he told me so. But it’s not ordinary poop, really! Look what unicorns have: glittery rainbow poop, and it smells just like flowers!

Fifth, they’re really hard to find. A friend is supposed to be there when you need them. When it comes to llamas, we are always here for you! But I always have a unicorn with me. I have a new bed with so many adorable unicorn things out there. You can feel together even when you’re apart.

They claim to be magical, but I’ve never seen a unicorn do magic. You just have to make a wish; they grant wishes, for sure!

Okay, let’s see if this works. Wish, wish, sneak, whoosh! Wow, I’m a llamacorn! See, it’s true! Nobody likes unicorns because everybody loves them.

The llama turned from a unicorn foe to a unicorn friend. I hope you enjoyed our story today! See you next time!
