Let’s Have a Colorful Day!

Now that we know so many colors, let’s look around and see how colorful our world is. Colors are everywhere! What colors do you see right now?

  • What is your favorite color, and why do you like it so much? Can you find something in that color around you?
  • Think about a time when you saw something really colorful. What was it, and how did it make you feel?
  • If you could paint a picture using only three colors, which ones would you choose and what would you paint?
  1. Color Hunt Adventure: Go on a color hunt around your home or classroom. Find objects that match each color mentioned in the article: red, white, green, black, purple, blue, orange, brown, pink, gray, and yellow. Gather these items and create a colorful display. Talk about why you chose each item and what makes it special. Can you find something that has more than one color?

  2. Color Mixing Magic: Use watercolors or finger paints to explore what happens when you mix different colors together. Try mixing red and blue, yellow and red, or blue and yellow. What new colors do you create? Paint a picture using your new colors and share it with your friends or family. Which color combination is your favorite?

  3. Colorful Storytime: Choose a storybook that features lots of colors. As you read, point out the different colors you see in the illustrations. After reading, draw your favorite scene from the book using crayons or markers. What colors did you use, and why did you choose them? Share your drawing and explain your color choices.
