In the “Let’s Move and Groove!” lesson, participants engage in a variety of fun physical activities that encourage movement and expression, such as jumping, hopping, and pretending to be animals. The lesson also explores the connection between feelings and actions, prompting participants to share how they express different emotions. Through interactive circle games, children practice following directions and coordinating their movements, all while having a great time.
  1. What is your favorite way to move your body?
  2. How do you feel when you jump or run?
  3. Can you pretend to be an animal? Which one do you want to be?

Let’s Move and Groove!

Hey there! Are you ready to have some fun? Let’s start by moving our bodies! Stand up, sit down, and turn around. Can you put one hand up and one hand down? Now, try putting both hands up and then both hands down. Great job!

Jump, Hop, and Run!

Let’s jump, hop, and run! But remember, we have to stop when it’s time. Let’s do it again! Everybody sit down and get ready to move.

Feelings and Actions

What do you do when you’re happy? I laugh when I’m happy! How about when you’re sad? I cry when I’m sad. When I’m angry, I stomp my feet. When I’m hungry, I eat a snack. And when I’m sleepy, I go to sleep. What do you do?

Let’s Move Fast and Slow

I can hop! Can you hop fast? Now let’s walk. Walk fast! Now walk slow. Good job!

Let’s skip! Skip fast! Now skip slow. You’re doing great!

Can you swim? Swim fast! Now swim slow. Awesome!

Animal Fun

Let’s pretend to be animals! I’m a dog, and I can run. Woof woof! I’m a cat, and I can walk. Meow! I’m a frog, and I can jump. Croak croak! I’m a bird, and I can fly. Tweet tweet!

Circle Games

Hello! Nice to meet you! Let’s shake hands and jump around in a circle. Now stop! Touch your head four times. Walk around in a circle. Now stop! Touch your nose five times.

Hop around in a circle. Now stop! Touch your mouth six times. Skip around in a circle. Now stop! Touch your shoulder seven times.

Shake around in a circle. Now stop! Touch your arms eight times. Swim around in a circle. Now stop! Touch your back nine times.

Thanks for Joining!

Thanks for moving and playing with us! We had so much fun. Don’t forget to come back for more exciting activities. See you next time!

  • What is your favorite way to move your body, and why do you like it so much? Can you show us how you do it?
  • When you pretend to be an animal, which animal do you like to be, and what movements do you make? Can you make the sounds that animal makes?
  • How do you feel when you move fast, like running or skipping, compared to when you move slow, like walking or swimming? Which do you enjoy more?
  1. Animal Movement Adventure: Let’s explore how different animals move! Choose an animal and try to move like it. Can you hop like a frog or waddle like a penguin? Ask your friends or family to guess which animal you are pretending to be. Afterward, draw a picture of your favorite animal and show how it moves. Discuss with your friends why certain animals move the way they do.

  2. Feelings and Actions Match: Create a set of cards with different feelings (happy, sad, angry, sleepy) and another set with actions (laugh, cry, stomp, sleep). Mix them up and try to match the feeling with the correct action. For example, when you feel happy, you might laugh. Talk about other actions you might do when you feel these emotions. Can you think of a new action for each feeling?

  3. Fast and Slow Race: Organize a race with your friends or family where you switch between moving fast and slow. You can run, hop, or skip. Listen carefully for the signal to change speed. After the race, discuss when it might be better to move fast and when it might be better to move slow in real life. Can you think of a time when you had to move fast or slow?

Here’s a sanitized version of the provided YouTube transcript, removing any repetitive phrases and maintaining clarity:
