Hello! I’m Audrey, and I’m Victoria. We just watched a fun video called “Nom Nom Colors” on Bugs. It was so exciting! My favorite part was when they said “no,” but I was ready to eat! Victoria loved the cute little mint leaf that said, “I’ve been meaning to tell you something,” like “minting” instead of “mint.” Isn’t that funny?
Now, we are going to play a game called a color scavenger hunt! You can play this game at home too. Here’s what you need:
First, wrap the inside of your clear bucket with a piece of construction paper. Each bucket should have a different color. I picked blue because it’s my favorite color. Victoria picked yellow because it looks nice with pink. If you have extra paper sticking out, just fold it in so it fits nicely. If you don’t have a clear bucket, you can use a cup or bowl instead.
Next, use tape to keep the paper inside the bucket. You can tape the paper by putting one piece inside the folded part of the other paper. This will help it stay in place.
Now it’s time to find colorful things around your house! See how many items you can find that match the color of your bucket. You can make it a race by setting a timer. Try to find a food item in your color for extra fun! We have 60 seconds to find as many blue and yellow things as we can. Ready, set, go!
I found two yellow pencils, yellow paint, yellow ribbon, yellow butter, a yellow sponge, and a yellow button. Victoria found a blue paintbrush, two blue gloves, a ceramic pumpkin, a hairbrush, blue paint, two pairs of blue scissors, a camera, and a block. She scored eleven points!
Great job! Let’s celebrate with a friendship high five using our gloves. Three, two, one—friendship!
Now it’s your turn to watch “Nom Nom Colors” on Bugs and create your own color scavenger hunt. If you don’t have books, ask your grown-up to help you find some. It’s a kid-safe, ad-free library full of storybooks that come to life. Have fun exploring more stories like these!
Do you want to play again? Let’s go!
Color Mixing Experiment: Let’s explore what happens when we mix colors! Gather some watercolors or food coloring in primary colors (red, blue, yellow). Use small cups or bowls filled with water. Mix two colors together and see what new color you create. For example, mix red and blue to make purple. Ask yourself: What happens when you mix all three primary colors? Can you find something in your house that matches the new color you made?
Nature Color Walk: Take a walk outside with a grown-up and look for colors in nature. Bring a small notebook or paper and crayons. When you find something colorful, like a flower or a leaf, try to match its color with your crayons. Draw a picture of what you see. Think about these questions: Why do you think flowers have different colors? How do colors help animals in nature?
Color Story Time: Choose a storybook that has lots of colorful pictures. As you read, point out the different colors you see on each page. After reading, create your own short story using your favorite colors. Draw pictures to go with your story. Share your story with a friend or family member and ask them: What is your favorite color in the story? Why do you like it?

I’m Audrey. I’m Victoria. We just watched “Non-Colors” on Bugs. My favorite part was when they said “no,” but I’m ready to eat! My favorite part was when there was a cute little mint leaf, and it was like, “I’ve been meaning to tell you something,” kind of like “minting” instead of “mint.”
Now that we’ve watched, we’re going to go on a little color scavenger hunt! Here’s what you need to do a scavenger hunt at home: two clear buckets, colorful construction paper, and tape.
**Step 1:** Wrap the inside of your clear bucket with the construction paper. Each bucket should have a different color paper. I chose blue because it’s my favorite color. I chose yellow because it goes well with pink. You see this excess? You want to fold that in so that way it fits like this. Try to find a clear bucket at your house so that the items will show through. If you can’t find one at home, you can wrap the outside of a cup or bowl.
**Step 2:** Take the paper so that it stays inside. I’m going to take my second paper and put it inside the folded part of my other paper, and that’s how I’m going to tape it.
**Step 3:** Start your hunt! The goal is to see how many things you can find in each color inside your house. You want to do it in a certain amount of time to make it a race. Bonus points if you can find a food item in your color, since that’s how we learned about color in this book story. We have 60 seconds to see how many blue and yellow things we can find around the room. Ready? Get set, go!
I found two yellow pencils, yellow paint, yellow ribbon, yellow butter, a yellow sponge, and a yellow button. I found a blue paintbrush, two blue gloves, a ceramic pumpkin, a hairbrush, blue paint, two pairs of blue scissors, a camera, and a block. That’s worth one point for the two gloves, which is two points, so that’s three points total. I got eleven points!
Good job! Here, I have an idea. Let’s do a friendship high five with these gloves! Three, two, one—friendship!
Now it’s your turn! Watch “Num Num Colors” on Bugs and then create your own color scavenger hunt. If you don’t have books, what are you waiting for? It’s a kid-safe, ad-free library full of storybooks brought to life. Ask your grown-up to start exploring more fun stories like these.
Do you want to go again? Yeah, let’s go!
