  3. What colors will you choose to make your grapes special?

Let’s Draw Fun Grapes Together!

Today, we’re going to learn how to draw some super fun grapes that look like they’re popping out of the page! It’s a creative activity that you can do with just a few simple things. Ready to start? Let’s go!

What You Need

Before we start, make sure you have these things:

  • A pencil
  • A marker
  • Some paper
  • Coloring tools like crayons, colored pencils, or markers

Step 1: Drawing the Grapes

Start with a Circle: First, draw a big circle in the middle of your paper. Use your pencil and press lightly, but you can press harder if you want to see it better.

Add More Circles: Draw another circle next to the first one so they overlap a little. Keep adding circles until you have six in total. Try to make them about the same size for a nice look.

Step 2: Outlining the Grapes

Switch to Marker: Once you’re happy with your circles, use a marker to trace over the first circle completely.

Trace Overlapping Circles: For the next circles, only trace the parts you can see, leaving out the parts that overlap. Erase any extra pencil lines inside each grape as you go.

Step 3: Adding the Stem and Leaves

Draw the Stem: From the top of the first grape, draw a curved line for the stem. Add another curve next to it, making it wider at the top, and connect them.

Connect to Other Grapes: Draw lines from the stem to the grapes on each side.

Add a Leaf: Draw a curve from the stem, then make an upside-down “V” for the leaf. Finish the leaf with zigzag lines and add small lines for detail.

Step 4: Adding Faces to the Grapes

Draw Expressions: Make your grapes fun by adding eyes and mouths. You can make them happy, scared, or even silly!

Get Creative: Add cool features like mustaches or tears to give each grape its own personality.

Step 5: Coloring Your Grapes

Choose Your Colors: Pick colors for your grapes and leaves. Use any coloring tools you like.

Add Depth: To make your grapes look even more real, you can add highlights and shading. This is optional but fun!

Conclusion

Great job! You’ve drawn some awesome overlapping grapes with fun faces. Remember, you can always add more grapes or different expressions. We hope you had fun and learned about overlapping in art. Keep drawing and let your imagination run wild!

  • What kind of faces would you like to draw on your grapes, and why? Can you think of a story or a name for each grape based on their expressions?
  • Have you ever seen grapes in real life? How do they look different from the ones you drew? What other fruits would you like to draw with fun faces?
  • Why do you think adding colors and shading can make your drawings look more real? Can you think of other things you can draw that would look cool with shading?
  1. Grape Observation Walk: Take a walk around your home or garden and look for things that overlap, just like the grapes you drew. Can you find leaves, flowers, or even shadows that overlap? Draw what you see and share your observations with a friend or family member. Discuss how overlapping makes things look more interesting or realistic.

  2. Overlapping Art Collage: Gather some old magazines or colored paper. Cut out different shapes and pictures. Try to create a collage by overlapping the pieces, just like you did with the grapes. Notice how overlapping can create new shapes and patterns. Show your collage to someone and explain how you used overlapping to make your art.

  3. Story Time with Grapes: Imagine each grape you drew has a story. Write a short story or create a comic strip about your grapes. What adventures do they go on? How do their different expressions help tell the story? Share your story with your class or family and see what stories they come up with for their grapes!
