Hi there! I’m Jeremy, and today we’re going to have some fun with art. We’re going to take a photo and turn it into a cool piece of art. You can do this with any photo you like, as long as you have a scan or a photocopy of it. Let’s get started!
First, take your photocopy and use scissors to trim it to the size you want. This will make it fit nicely on your cardboard.
Next, grab your piece of cardboard. Choose a color of craft paint—I think green looks great! Use your paintbrush to spread the paint all over the cardboard. Make sure the paint is nice and thick so your photo will stick well.
Now, take your photo and place it face down onto the wet paint. Use your fingers to gently press it down and smooth out any air bubbles. Once it’s all set, leave it aside to dry completely.
Once your photo is dry, lay an old towel on your table because things might get a bit messy. Dip your fingers in the jar of water and sprinkle the water onto the photo. Rub the water into the paper gently, and you’ll start to see the image appear through the paper.
Now for the fun part! Start peeling away the paper. Don’t worry if it tears a bit—just keep peeling. For the stubborn bits, use a scrub brush to gently scrub the paper away. You’ll see your photo magically appear on the cardboard!
And there you have it! Your photo art is complete and looks amazing. You can try this on cardboard or even on canvas. It’s a magical way to show off your favorite pictures. Remember, every time you do this, the result is a little different, and that’s what makes it special!

Color Experiment: Try using different colors of craft paint instead of just green. What happens when you use a bright color like yellow or a dark color like blue? Does the color of the paint change how your photo looks? Share your results with your friends or family and see which color everyone likes best!
Texture Exploration: Instead of using cardboard, try transferring your photo onto different surfaces like a piece of wood, a canvas, or even a smooth rock. How does the texture of the surface change the way your photo art looks? Discuss with your classmates or family which surface you think makes the photo look the most interesting.
Photo Storytelling: Choose a series of photos that tell a story, like a day at the park or a fun family event. Create a photo art piece for each photo and arrange them in order to tell your story. Share your story with your class or family and explain why you chose each photo and what it represents.

Hi, I’m Jeremy! Let’s create some art! I’m going to use this photo to make a great work of art. This is a scan of my all-time favorite photograph. Isn’t it beautiful? I like it so much that I’m going to transfer it onto something else, which is really cool. You can do this with any photo; you just have to scan or photocopy it first.
I like this a lot, but I think I’d like it a little bit smaller, so with my scissors, I’m just going to trim it up a bit. Now, what I want to do is take a little piece of cardboard. Here we go! This will work. Then, I’ll choose some craft paint. I think I’ll use green. With a paintbrush, I’ll apply it right onto the board, starting in the middle. I want to make sure it’s nice and thick so our photocopied picture will stick really well to it.
Once I’ve covered that with paint, I take my picture and lay it right down into the paint, using my fingers to gently press it into the cardboard to get all the air bubbles out. Once you’ve done that, set it aside to dry.
Here’s one I did earlier, and it’s nice and dry! Check this out! First, I want to get a nice old towel and lay it out on my table because this is going to get a little bit messy. Now, I have a jar of water. I dip my fingers in and get the water right onto my picture, just like this. Then, with my fingers, I rub the water into the picture, and you can see the image coming through the paper.
Once I have the whole thing covered in water, it’s time for the magic! Pull away all of the old photo, so just peel that off. You don’t have to be too careful; just get the paper off. I like to start with the pieces that peel off easily, and then for the rest, I’ll grab my scrub brush and scrub the rest away. You can see when we scrub, it takes the paper away, and the picture has been transferred onto our cardboard.
You can use as much water as you need for this, and the cool part is that the picture you get doesn’t come out looking exactly the same as the original photo—it’s always a great surprise! Once you’ve scrubbed off all the extra paper, it’ll look something like this. This one is complete, and it looks amazing!
You can do this on cardboard like this or on canvas. It’s not just magic; it’s creativity! I think this photo art is magical. It’s easy to put your favorite picture on a piece of cardboard or canvas. You’ll need a photocopy or a scan of the photo, cut it to the shape you want, then take craft paint and spread it on the cardboard. Press your photocopy picture onto the paint and push down to press out all the air bubbles.
Once it’s completely dry, sprinkle some water on the paper until it’s really wet, and then peel and wipe the paper away. Your picture appears like magic!
