Discussion Questions

  • What is your favorite color, and where do you see it most often in your day-to-day life? Can you find something in the room that is your favorite color?
  • Think about the shapes you see at home or at school. Can you name some objects that are shaped like a circle, square, or triangle? Which shape do you think is the most fun to find?
  • If you could go on a safari, what animal would you be most excited to see and why? Have you ever seen this animal in real life or in a book?

Lesson Activities

  1. Color Hunt Adventure: Go on a color hunt around your home or classroom. Find objects that match the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Once you’ve found them, arrange them in order to create your own rainbow. Talk about where you found each color and what it reminds you of.

  2. Shape Detective Game: Become a shape detective! Look around your environment and find as many different shapes as you can. Use a piece of paper and draw the shapes you find, like circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles. Discuss with a friend or family member how these shapes are used in everyday objects, like a clock or a book.

  3. Animal Safari Storytime: Pretend you are on a safari and choose your favorite animal. Draw a picture of this animal and share a story about where it lives and what it likes to do. You can even make animal sounds and movements to bring your story to life. Share your story with your classmates or family and see if they can guess which animal you are describing!
