Let’s Learn About Being Brave and Healthy!

Going to the Doctor

Today, we’re going to talk about something important that helps us stay healthy. Sometimes, we need to visit the doctor to get a little poke called a shot. This helps keep us from getting sick. It might feel a bit scary, but it’s really helpful!

Kiki’s Adventure

Kiki was feeling worried about getting a shot at school. She tried to pretend she was sick so she wouldn’t have to go. But guess what? The doctor found out that Kiki was just fine!

Checking for Sickness

The doctor checked Kiki’s temperature and looked at her throat. Everything was okay! Kiki even tried to say her tummy hurt, but the doctor knew she was alright. It’s important to be honest with doctors because they are there to help us.

Being Brave Like Kiki

In the end, Kiki realized she needed to be brave and get her shot. It was quick, and she was very brave! Being brave means doing something even if it feels a little scary. And guess what? Kiki was just fine after her shot!

Super Rescue Team Adventure

Later, Kiki and her friends became part of a Super Rescue Team! They helped a big shark named Chief Shark who was having trouble breathing. They found out that a little piece of coral was stuck in his gills. The team worked together to help Chief Shark feel better.

Helping Others

Just like Kiki and her friends helped Chief Shark, we can help our friends and family too. We can be kind and helpful, just like the Super Rescue Team!

Mimi the Doctor

Mimi wanted to be a doctor and help others. She learned that getting a shot can help keep us healthy. Mimi was brave and got her shot too. She even helped bandage a friend’s boo-boo!

Being a Helper

We can all be helpers like Mimi. If someone is hurt or needs help, we can be there for them. Being a helper makes us feel good inside!

Remember

Getting a shot might feel a little scary, but it’s a brave thing to do. It helps keep us healthy and strong. And being a helper, like Kiki and Mimi, is a wonderful way to show we care about others!

Let’s Be Brave and Kind!

Discussion Questions

  1. Can you think of a time when you had to be brave like Kiki? What did you do, and how did it make you feel afterward?
  2. Why do you think it’s important to be honest with doctors, just like Kiki learned? How can being honest help us stay healthy?
  3. If you were part of a Super Rescue Team, what kind of things would you like to do to help others? Can you think of a way you have helped someone recently?

Lesson Activities

  1. Role-Playing Doctor Visits: Set up a pretend doctor’s office in the classroom. Use toy medical kits and have the children take turns being the doctor and the patient. Encourage them to practice checking temperatures, looking at throats, and giving pretend shots. Ask them how it feels to be brave like Kiki and Mimi when they are the patient.

  2. Bravery Badge Craft: Provide materials for the children to create their own “Bravery Badges.” Use paper, stickers, and markers. Encourage them to decorate their badges and wear them proudly. Discuss what it means to be brave and ask them to share a time when they felt brave, just like Kiki.

  3. Helping Hands Activity: Create a “Helping Hands” wall in the classroom. Have each child trace their hand on a piece of paper and write or draw one way they can help others, like Mimi and the Super Rescue Team. Display these on the wall and discuss how helping others makes us feel good and why it’s important.
