Discussion Questions

  • Have you ever pretended to be someone like a firefighter or a doctor? What was your favorite role to play and why?
  • Imagine you are an astronaut exploring space. What do you think you would see, and what would you like to discover?
  • When you help clean up or make food like donuts or pizza, how does it make you feel? Do you have a favorite activity that you like to do with your family or friends?

Lesson Activities

  1. Firefighter Adventure: Let’s pretend to be firefighters! Gather some red paper or fabric to make a pretend fire engine. Use a garden hose or a spray bottle to “put out” imaginary fires in the yard or playground. Ask the children, “What do firefighters do to keep us safe?” Encourage them to think about how firefighters help in real life and discuss the importance of being brave and helpful.

  2. Doctor’s Check-Up: Set up a pretend doctor’s office using toy stethoscopes, bandages, and other doctor tools. Have the children take turns being the doctor and the patient. Ask them, “How do doctors help us feel better?” Encourage them to listen to each other’s heartbeats and talk about how taking care of our health is important.

  3. Traffic Police Game: Create a small traffic course using toy cars and colored paper for traffic lights. Let the children play the role of traffic police officers, directing the cars safely through the course. Ask them, “What do the different traffic light colors mean?” Discuss how traffic police help keep everyone safe on the roads.
