  • What is your favorite way to practice math, and why do you like it? Do you prefer using flashcards, workbooks, or maybe coloring books?
  • Can you think of a time when you used math in your everyday life? Maybe when you were helping to count something or figuring out how many toys you have?
  • If you could create a fun math game, what would it be like? What kind of math problems would you include, and how would you make it exciting for your friends?
  1. Math Fact Family Hunt: Go on a math fact family hunt around your house! Find objects that come in groups, like pairs of socks or sets of forks. Count them and write down the addition and subtraction facts that match. For example, if you find 3 pairs of socks, you can write 3 + 3 = 6 and 6 – 3 = 3. Share your findings with a family member and see if they can find more math facts around the house!

  2. Flashcard Fun Race: Create your own set of flashcards with addition and subtraction problems up to 10 plus 10. Challenge a friend or family member to a flashcard race. See who can answer the most flashcards correctly in one minute. After the race, discuss any tricky problems and try to solve them together. This will help you get faster and more confident with your math facts!

  3. Math Detective Adventure: Become a math detective and solve a mystery using your math skills! Create a simple story where you need to use addition or subtraction to solve a problem. For example, “There are 10 apples in a basket. If 4 apples are taken away, how many are left?” Draw pictures to illustrate your story and share it with your class or family. Encourage them to create their own math mysteries for you to solve!
