One sunny day, our friends were exploring the forest when they heard a strange noise. It sounded like something was scratching inside a log. “What’s that?” they wondered.
As they got closer, they imagined what could be inside. “Maybe it’s a log creature!” one of them exclaimed. They thought about a creature that lives in logs, makes scratchy sounds, and has lots of eyes and tails. “I hope it’s a lucky little creature!” they said excitedly.
Crystal, one of the friends, was very brave. “Don’t worry,” she said. “I’ll go take a look.” Boomer, another friend, decided to join her. “We’ll be right behind you,” the others said, feeling a bit nervous but curious too.
They peeked inside the log but found nothing there. “No log creature and no books either,” Boomer said. “Whatever it was, it’s gone now.”
Scout, another friend, thought it might have been a book that made the noise. “Let’s keep looking,” Scout suggested. “It must be around here somewhere.”
Just then, one of them spotted something moving in the bushes. “Hey, I think I saw something over there!” they shouted. Everyone ran over to see what it could be.
What do you think they found? The forest is full of surprises, and exploring it can be a fun adventure!
Create Your Own Forest Creature: Imagine you are in the forest and you hear a strange noise coming from a log. What kind of creature do you think could be inside? Draw a picture of your imaginary forest creature. Think about what it looks like, what sounds it makes, and where it might live. Share your drawing with your friends or family and tell them all about your creature’s special features!
Sound Detective: Go on a sound adventure in your backyard or a nearby park. Close your eyes and listen carefully to the different sounds around you. Can you hear birds chirping, leaves rustling, or maybe a dog barking? Write down or draw the sounds you hear. Try to guess what might be making each sound. Discuss with your friends or family how these sounds are similar or different from the sounds in the forest story.
Forest Adventure Story: With a friend or family member, create your own adventure story about exploring a mysterious forest. What strange things might you find? Who are the brave explorers in your story? Write a short story or act it out as a play. Use your imagination to think about what happens next in your adventure. Share your story with your class or family and see what exciting ideas they come up with!
Here comes the fun!
What’s that?
There was a log over there, and it made some scratchy sounds.
Whoa, what’s that? Oh, a log creature!
Well, they live in logs and make scratching sounds, and they have lots of eyes and tails.
I hope it’s a lucky little creature!
I hope so too! It sounds awesome!
Don’t worry, Scout. There’s probably just a book inside the log.
Yeah, but it might be a log creature. You don’t know for sure, Crystal.
Well, I’m brave! I’ll go look.
We can look together. We’ll be right behind you, Boomer.
Okay, if you say so.
There it is…
Hmm…
No log creature in here and no books either. Whatever it was, it’s gone now.
Scout, you think so?
Yeah, it was probably a book, and it’s got to be around here somewhere. Let’s look here.
Okay!
Hey, I think I saw something over there! Come on!
Wow!
