  3. Why is it important to brush our teeth?

Let’s Learn About Brushing Our Teeth!

When to Brush

We brush our teeth in the morning when we wake up and at night before we go to bed. That’s two times every day!

How Long to Brush

Each time we brush, we do it for two whole minutes. You can sing a fun song or use a timer to help you know when two minutes are up!

Why We Brush

Brushing our teeth helps keep them healthy and strong. This way, we can chew our yummy food and show off our bright smiles all day long!

Goodbye Sticky Plaque!

Brushing gets rid of sticky stuff called plaque. We say, “Bye, bye sticky plaque, don’t come back!”

How to Brush

We brush, brush, brush all the outer parts of our teeth. Then, we brush, brush, brush the inner parts. Don’t forget to brush the parts we chew with, too!

Brush All Around

We brush up and down, and all around. And guess what? We also brush our tongue to keep our mouth super clean!

Remember to Brush!

So, let’s remember to brush our teeth every morning and night, two times a day, for two minutes each time. Brush your teeth and keep smiling!

  • Why do you think it’s important to brush your teeth every morning and night? Can you think of a time when you forgot to brush your teeth? How did it feel?
  • What fun song or timer do you like to use to make sure you brush your teeth for two minutes? Can you share it with us?
  • Have you ever noticed how your teeth feel after you brush them? What other things do you do to keep your body healthy and strong?
  1. Toothbrush Painting: Let’s use our toothbrushes for a fun art project! Dip a clean toothbrush in some paint and gently brush it across a piece of paper to create colorful patterns. As you paint, think about how you brush your teeth in different directions to keep them clean. What patterns can you make by brushing up and down, or in circles?

  2. Plaque Hunt: Pretend you’re a detective on a mission to find “plaque” around the classroom or at home. Look for sticky or dirty spots on objects like tables or toys. Use a damp cloth to “brush” them clean, just like you brush plaque off your teeth. How many spots can you find and clean?

  3. Brushing Buddy: Pair up with a friend or family member and take turns being the “brusher” and the “timer.” Use a timer or a fun song to make sure you brush for two minutes. As the timer, encourage your buddy by saying, “Brush, brush, brush!” and remind them to brush all around, just like in the lesson. How does it feel to brush for the full two minutes?
