Callie Reads: Peanut Butter Rhino

Rhino’s Silly Adventure

Once upon a time, there was a funny Rhino who loved peanut butter sandwiches. One day, Rhino was getting ready to visit his friend, the elephant. But oh no! Rhino couldn’t find his yummy peanut butter sandwich anywhere!

A Silly Surprise

Rhino was feeling sad because he thought he lost his sandwich. But guess what? A friend noticed something funny. There was a squished peanut butter sandwich stuck on Rhino’s bottom! Oh, Rhino, you’re so silly!

Sharing is Caring

Luckily, Rhino’s friend had brought two peanut butter sandwiches. One for Rhino and one for the friend. Hooray! They both got to enjoy their tasty treats together. Sharing is so much fun!

A Fun Song

Callie made up a fun song to sing with the story: “Peanut Butter, Ral Pap, Peanut Butter Rhino. I like peanut butter rhinos!” Singing makes reading even more fun!

Thanks for Reading!

Thank you for reading with us! We hope you had a great time. See you next time for more fun stories!

  • What is your favorite kind of sandwich, and have you ever had a funny experience with it like Rhino did?
  • Why do you think sharing is important, and can you remember a time when you shared something with a friend or family member?
  • If you could make up a fun song about your favorite food, what would it be about, and how would it go?
  • Peanut Butter Sandwich Hunt: Organize a fun treasure hunt where you hide a pretend peanut butter sandwich (made from paper or a toy) somewhere in the classroom or at home. Encourage the children to find it by giving them simple clues. This activity helps them practice problem-solving and observation skills. After finding the sandwich, discuss how Rhino might have felt when he couldn’t find his sandwich and how he felt when he found it.
  • Make Your Own Sandwich: Provide the children with safe, child-friendly ingredients to make their own pretend peanut butter sandwiches using craft materials like brown paper for bread and yellow paper for peanut butter. Encourage them to share their creations with a friend, just like Rhino’s friend shared with him. This activity promotes creativity and reinforces the concept of sharing.
  • Sing and Dance: Teach the children the “Peanut Butter, Ral Pap, Peanut Butter Rhino” song from the story. Encourage them to create their own dance moves to go along with the song. This activity enhances their listening skills and allows them to express themselves through music and movement. Ask them how singing and dancing make them feel and why they think it made the story more fun.

Here’s a sanitized version of the YouTube transcript:

It’s no use; I’ve lost it. I’ll just have to go see the elephant without my wonderful peanut butter sandwich. Excuse me, Rhino, but why is there a squished peanut butter sandwich on your bottom?

Good thing I brought two peanut butter sandwiches—one for me and one for you! Yippee! Hooray!

I made up this song to go with this book: Peanut Butter, Ral Pap, Peanut Butter Rhino. I like peanut butter rhinos!

Thanks for reading with me, guys. See you next time!
