Welcome to a fun adventure with Old McDonald and his amazing vehicles! Let’s sing along and learn about the cool machines on his farm.
Old McDonald had a farm, and on that farm, he had some exciting vehicles:
Once upon a time, there was a digger who loved to work. While other trucks took a break, Digger found a tiny flower in the rubble. Every day, Digger took care of the flower, watering it and singing it a bedtime song.
One day, the flower was gone, but Digger found seeds! He planted them in a special place and took care of them every day. The seeds grew, and Digger was happy.
It’s important to be kind. If someone is sad, maybe a game of peekaboo will make them smile. And if a kitty is stuck in a tree, a bulldozer can help get it down safely.
After a long day, it’s time for the trucks to have a bath! The excavator loves bath time, and the bulldozer pops bubbles. The cement mixer pours shampoo, and everyone gets clean and ready for another day of fun!
Let’s paint with the color train! Little Sean paints red apples, Gwen paints a vermillion blouse, and Duncan paints an orange lock. Painting is so much fun!
Landon had an exciting day! He rode the subway with his mom to the museum. He saw dinosaurs and butterflies and had a great time. The subway can take you to amazing places!
Remember, a red light means stop, and a green light means go!

Vehicle Matching Game: Create a set of cards with pictures of the vehicles mentioned in the article (excavator, front loader, bulldozer, motor grader, dump truck, steamroller) and another set with their actions (digging, scooping, pushing, scraping, dumping, squishing). Mix them up and ask the children to match each vehicle with its correct action. This will help reinforce their understanding of what each vehicle does.
Plant a Seed Activity: Just like the digger in the story, give each child a small pot, some soil, and seeds to plant. Encourage them to take care of their plant by watering it regularly and observing how it grows. Ask them to share their observations and discuss how taking care of plants is similar to being kind and responsible, just like the digger was with the flower.
Traffic Light Craft: Using colored paper, have the children create their own traffic lights. Discuss the importance of traffic lights and what each color means. Once their traffic lights are complete, play a game where they have to follow the traffic light signals (red means stop, green means go) to move around the classroom. This activity will help them understand the concept of traffic signals in a fun and interactive way.

The Digger and the Flower by Joseph Kefer: It was morning, and the big trucks were ready to work. “Let’s hoist,” said the crane. “Let’s push,” said the dozer. “Let’s dig,” said the digger. Together, they built tall buildings, roads, and bridges.
They built and built until the loud whistle blew. “I’m bit,” said the crane. “Me too,” said the dozer. The other big trucks took a break, but Digger did not. He found something in the rubble: a tiny but beautiful flower.
Every day, while the other big trucks built, Digger visited the flower. He watered it, shielded it on windy days, and sang it a bedtime song. The flower grew, but soon every space had been filled.
“We need to put a building here,” said the crane. Dozer started his engine, and before Digger could stop him, Dozer blew a big puff of smoke and cut the flower down. The other big trucks went back to work, but Digger did not.
When the smoke cleared, Digger saw something in the rubble: little seeds. He scooped them up and drove to a place no big truck had ever been. Digger stopped, dug, and tucked the seeds into the warm earth.
Every day, Digger cared for the seeds, watering them and shielding them from the wind. Just before he switched off for the night, Digger sang the seeds a bedtime song.
As evening came, the stars dusted the sky. “I love you,” said the big truck. “I love you too,” said the little truck.
The little truck worried about letting the big truck down, but the big truck reassured him that love never gets tired or grows old.
They watched the stars together, and the big truck said that no distance could keep him from the little truck.
The little truck replied, “If all that is true, I love you, my big truck, with all my heart.”
I dig being kind. The sun is rising, and it’s a new day to be kind.
Excuse me, please, could you move to the right? Someone is sad. Perhaps some giggles with a game of peekaboo will help.
A little kitty is stuck in a tree. The bulldozer will reach up and get the kitty down safely.
The end.
I dig bath time. When the dust is settled and the day is done, the excavator is ready for bath time. It’s so much fun!
Turn on the water but not too hot. Scrub-a-dub-dub! The bulldozer pops bubbles, and the cement mixer pours on the goopy shampoo.
Taking a bath is so fun to do!
All trucks take bath time until tomorrow. Goodbye!
All aboard the color train! Let’s have some painting fun.
Little Sean painted red apples, little Gwen painted a vermillion blouse, and little Duncan painted an orange lock.
Today was an exciting day. Landon’s mom promised to take him to the museum.
He hurried and got dressed quickly. They were going to ride the subway!
Landon held his mom’s hand as they hurried down the long stairs. He heard music playing and saw people dancing.
The train was roaring through the tunnel, and when it arrived, Landon and his mom got on.
The conductor announced the stop for the museum, and Landon was amazed by the dinosaurs and butterflies.
The subway can take you to some really fun places!
A red light says stop, a green light says go.
The end.
