Lesson Activities

  1. Donut Counting Adventure: Create a donut shop in your classroom! Use play dough to make pretend donuts. Ask the children to count how many donuts they have made. Then, pretend to sell some donuts and count how many are left. Encourage them to practice counting up and down as they “sell” and “restock” their donuts.

  2. Donut Number Hunt: Hide paper donuts with numbers written on them around the classroom. Ask the children to find the donuts and place them in order from 1 to 10. Once they have found all the donuts, challenge them to count backwards from 10 to 1 using the donuts they found.

  3. Everyday Counting: Encourage the children to count everyday objects at home or in the classroom. Ask them questions like, “How many apples are in the basket?” or “Can you count the steps from the door to your desk?” This will help them see how counting is useful in everyday life.
