  • What is your favorite fruit to count, and why do you like it? Can you think of other things you enjoy counting?
  • Have you ever picked apples or another fruit from a tree? What was it like, and how many did you pick?
  • Can you think of a time when you had to count something at home or school? How did it make you feel, and what did you learn from it?
  1. Apple Hunt: Go on an apple hunt around your home or classroom. Find objects that are red like apples and count them. How many red things can you find? Write down the numbers and compare them with your friends. Did you find more or fewer red objects than your friends?

  2. Apple Art: Use red paint or crayons to draw apples on a piece of paper. Draw one apple, then two apples, and continue up to five apples. Next to each group of apples, write the number that matches. Can you make a pattern with your apples? Show your artwork to a friend and explain your counting.

  3. Apple Story Time: Create a short story about an apple adventure. How many apples does your character find? What do they do with them? Share your story with the class and count the apples in your story together. How many apples did each story have?
