What We Learned

Today, we learned how to count to two with Peck and his hats. Counting can be magical and fun, especially when you have cool hats to count. Keep practicing your counting, and you’ll get even better!

  • Can you think of something you have at home that you can count, just like Peck counted his hats? How many do you have?
  • If you had two magical hats like Peck, what kind of adventures would you go on? Why do you think those adventures would be fun?
  • Why do you think counting is important? Can you think of a time when you used counting in your day-to-day activities?
  • Hat Counting Game: Gather a few hats or any other fun items you have at home. Ask a friend or family member to hide two of them in different places around the room. Then, go on a treasure hunt to find them! Each time you find a hat, say “One!” and then “Two!” when you find the second one. Try this game with different items and see how quickly you can find them all.

  • Magic Hat Drawing: Draw two magical hats on a piece of paper. Color them in your favorite colors. Under each hat, write the numbers “1” and “2”. Show your drawing to someone at home and explain how Peck uses his magical hats to count to two. You can even create a story about what magical adventures Peck might go on with each hat!

  • Counting in Nature: Go outside and find two things in nature, like two leaves or two rocks. Count them out loud: “One, two!” Think about other things you see every day that come in pairs, like shoes or socks. Can you find more pairs around you? Share your discoveries with a friend or family member.
