Climbing the Mountain

Imagine we are climbing a big, tall mountain. We are strong and brave! As we climb, let’s count together:

  1. Counting Adventure Walk: Take a walk around your neighborhood or a nearby park with a grown-up. As you walk, look for things you can count in groups of 10. For example, count 10 trees, 10 cars, or 10 flowers. Each time you find a group of 10, say the next number in the sequence: 10, 20, 30, and so on. How far can you count?

  2. Build a Counting Tower: Use blocks or LEGO pieces to build a tower. Start by stacking 10 blocks, then add another 10, and keep going. Count aloud as you add each set of 10 blocks: 10, 20, 30, etc. How tall can you make your tower? Can you reach 100 blocks?

  3. Counting by 10’s Treasure Hunt: Hide small objects like coins, buttons, or toy figures around a room. Ask a grown-up to help you find them. Each time you find 10 objects, count them out loud: 10, 20, 30, and so on. How many sets of 10 can you find?
