Welcome to Storytime!

Hello, everyone! Today, we’re going to read a fun story called “Danny the Duck with No Quack” by Malachy Doyle and Janet Sam. Are you ready? Let’s begin!

Meet Danny the Duck

Danny is a special duck because he can’t quack! Every morning, all the ducks and chickens gather in the yard to chat. They ask Danny, “How’s your quack, Danny? What’s new?” But Danny is a little shy and doesn’t know what to say. He keeps his beak shut, bows his head, and turns away.

Finding His Quack

The other birds tease Danny, saying, “Don’t be scared, Danny! You must have something to tell us!” Danny tries to speak, but nothing comes out. “He’s lost his quack!” they say. So, Danny decides to go on an adventure to find his quack.

Adventure with Foxes

As Danny waddles along, he meets two sneaky foxes. They ask him to help carry something heavy. Danny knows he shouldn’t help, but he can’t say no because no sound comes out of his beak.

The foxes then ask, “Who will collect the wood?” and “Who will fill the pot with water?” Danny knows he shouldn’t help, but he still can’t speak up.

A Surprise Quack!

Finally, the foxes say, “Who will be the dinner?” and rush towards Danny. Suddenly, Danny shouts, “Quackity quack! It’s a duck attack!” He surprises the foxes so much that they fall into the pot!

Danny’s Big Story

When Danny returns to the farmyard, the other ducks and hens ask, “How’s the quack, Danny? What’s your story?” Danny proudly tells them about his adventure with the foxes and how he saved himself.

The ducks cheer, “What a clever duck!” and Danny’s quack is the loudest of all!

Everyone, welcome to the Storytime Family! Today we’re going to be reading “Danny the Duck with No Quack” by Malachy Doyle and Janet Sam. Let’s check it out!

Danny is a duck who can’t quack. Every morning, the ducks and the hens gather in the yard for a good gossip. “How does the quack, Danny?” asks the chicken. “What’s the story? Tell us the news!” But Danny’s a shy little duck, and he never knows what to say. He keeps his beak firmly shut, bows his head, and turns away.

“Oh, are you shy like Danny?” come the calls from the birds. “Don’t be such a scaredy quack! There must be something you can tell us!”

Danny swallows and tries to speak, but nothing comes out—not a peep, not a flutter, not a cackle, not a hoot. “He’s lost his quack!” they say. So, he takes off up the lane to find a tale worth telling.

He wanders up the track to find his quack. He waddles along until he meets two scrawny foxes. “This thing’s heavy! Can you help us carry it?” one fox asks. Danny knows he shouldn’t help; these are tricky-looking foxes. He opens his beak to say no, but nothing comes out.

“We’ve carried it far enough,” groans one fox. “Now who will collect the wood?” The duck without a quack saves the other. Danny knows he should say no; these are hungry-looking foxes. He opens his mouth to protest, but he can’t.

“Now who’ll fill the pot with water?” asks one fox, smirking at the duck without a quack. Danny knows he shouldn’t help; these are scary-looking foxes. He opens his beak as wide as he can, but still, nothing comes out.

“Now who will be the dinner?” says one fox, licking his lips. Just as the two foxes rush towards Danny, he suddenly shouts, “Quackity quack! It’s a duck attack!” He throws himself to the side of the pot, and the two foxes are so surprised that they tumble right inside!

“How’s the quack?” asks the other ducks when Danny rushes back to the farmyard. “What’s the story, duck?” the hens clamor, eager to hear. Danny shares his adventure: “I wandered down the track and met a pair of foxes. They were carrying a pot, and I knew they wanted to cook me! They made me gather wood and fetch water. I filled the pot with water, and guess who’s in it now? The foxes!”

“What a clever little duck!” the ducks cheer. “Go away!” clucks the angry hens. “Don’t come back!” quacks the ducks, and Danny’s quack is the loudest of all.

And that was the end of Danny the Duck with No Quack.
