Welcome to Germ Park!

Hi there! Today, we’re going on a fun adventure to a place called Germ Park. Are you ready? Let’s go!

Playing and Swimming

We arrived at Boo-Boo Land, and it’s time to have some fun! We can swim and play all day. But remember, when you’re done playing, it’s important to wash your hands to keep the germs away!

Picnic Time!

Guess what? We brought lots of yummy food for a picnic, like donuts, sandwiches, and lollipops. But if any food falls on the ground, we shouldn’t eat it because it might have germs. Let’s keep our food clean and safe!

Flying with Germs

Did you know that germs love to travel? They can fly and land on things like flowers and honeycombs. So, if a fly lands on your food, it’s best to throw it away to stay healthy.

Hot Soup and Safety

We have some tasty corn soup, but be careful because it’s hot! Before eating, let it cool down. Remember, hot things can hurt, so always be careful with hot food and water.

Good Germs vs. Bad Germs

Inside our tummies, there are good germs and bad germs. Eating too much candy and chips can make the bad germs strong. But eating fruits, vegetables, milk, and yogurt helps the good germs win and keeps us healthy!

Restroom Rules

When you need to use the restroom, it’s important to focus and not play with toys or eat snacks. After you’re done, remember to flush and wash your hands to keep them clean!

Washing Hands

Germs love dirty places, so we need to wash our hands often. After playing, using the restroom, or before eating, wash your hands with soap and water. This helps take the germs away and keeps us healthy!

Stay Healthy and Have Fun!

By washing our hands, eating healthy foods, and being careful with hot things, we can stay healthy and have lots of fun. Let’s go out and play now!

Discussion Questions

  1. What are some of your favorite activities to do at a park, and why do you think it’s important to wash your hands after playing?
  2. Have you ever had a picnic? What foods did you bring, and how did you make sure they stayed clean and safe to eat?
  3. Can you think of a time when you had to be careful with something hot, like soup or tea? How did you make sure you didn’t get hurt?

Lesson Activities

  1. Germ Detective Game: Let’s become germ detectives! Look around your classroom or home and find places where germs might be hiding. Use a magnifying glass or just your eyes to spot places like doorknobs, toys, or the floor. After you find them, practice washing your hands together to make sure those germs go away. Can you think of other places where germs might hide?

  2. Healthy Food Sorting: Let’s play a sorting game with food! Gather some pictures of different foods or use toy food items. Sort them into two groups: foods that help the good germs in our tummies (like fruits and vegetables) and foods that might make the bad germs strong (like candy and chips). Talk about why it’s important to eat more of the good foods. Can you think of a healthy meal you would like to eat?

  3. Handwashing Song and Dance: Create a fun handwashing song and dance! Use a simple tune and make up words about washing hands with soap and water. Practice singing and dancing while pretending to wash your hands. This will help you remember to wash your hands often. Can you teach your song and dance to a friend or family member?
