Hey there! Today, we’re going to enjoy a fun story together. It’s all about a dog named Halitosis and her big adventure. Let’s dive in and see what happens!
Once upon a time, there was a dog named Halitosis, or Hallie for short. She lived with the Ptosis family and was a very good dog. But Hallie had one big problem—her breath was really stinky!
Whenever Hallie opened her mouth, people and even skunks would run away because of her bad breath. One day, when Grandma Ptosis came over for tea, Hallie jumped up to say hello, and the tea went flying everywhere!
Mr. and Mrs. Ptosis thought about finding a new home for Hallie because of her bad breath. But the children loved Hallie and wanted to help her. They decided to try and get rid of her bad breath.
First, they took Hallie to the top of a mountain with a beautiful view, hoping it would take her breath away. But it didn’t work. Then, they went to a movie theater, thinking the excitement would leave her breathless. That didn’t work either. Finally, they tried a speedy roller coaster at a carnival, but that idea failed too.
The children were sad and thought only a miracle could save Hallie. That night, something amazing happened. Two sneaky burglars broke into the Ptosis house. As they tiptoed through the dark, they came across Hallie.
The next morning, the Ptosis family found the burglars passed out on the floor! Hallie’s bad breath had saved the day! The family got a big reward for catching the burglars, and Hallie became a famous crime-fighting dog.
In the end, Mr. and Mrs. Ptosis decided to keep Hallie. They realized life without their wonderful watchdog just wouldn’t make sense. Hallie was a hero, and everyone loved her just the way she was.
Wasn’t that a lovely story? Thanks for joining us for Story Time! See you next time for more fun adventures!
Breath Experiment: Let’s explore the concept of smell and how it affects us. Ask an adult to help you gather a few items with different scents, like an orange peel, a piece of mint, a clove of garlic, and a flower. Close your eyes and take a sniff of each item. Can you guess what each one is just by its smell? Discuss with your friends or family how different smells make you feel. Do some smells make you happy or remind you of something special?
Create Your Own Story: Imagine you have a pet with a unique feature, just like Hallie’s bad breath. Draw a picture of your pet and write a short story about an adventure they go on. How does their unique feature help them in the story? Share your story with your classmates or family and see what creative ideas they come up with!
Observation Walk: Go on a walk around your neighborhood or a park with an adult. Pay attention to the different smells you encounter. Can you find something that smells sweet, something that smells fresh, and something that smells strong? Make a list of the things you smell and draw a picture of your favorite one. Talk about why you liked that smell the most.

Today’s book is “Job Breath: The Horrible Trouble with Halitosis” by Daffy Dave. Let’s get started!
There once was a dog named Hallie who lived with the Ptosis family. Halitosis was a very good dog, but she had a big problem. Whenever Halitosis opened her mouth, horrible things happened. When the children took Halitosis for a walk, everyone else walked on the other side of the street—even skunks avoided her!
But the real trouble started one day when Grandma Ptosis stopped by for a cup of tea, and Hallie jumped up to say hello. That tea went everywhere!
Mr. and Mrs. Ptosis were not amused. They decided to find a new home for Hallie. The children knew that the only way they could save their dog was to get rid of her bad breath. So they took Halitosis to the top of a mountain that had a breathtaking view, hoping it would take her breath away. But it didn’t.
Next, the children took Halitosis to a movie theater, hoping that all the excitement would leave her breathless. But that didn’t work either. Finally, they took Halitosis to a carnival, hoping that she would lose her breath on the speedy roller coaster. But that idea failed too.
Now only a miracle could save Halitosis. Sadly, the three friends said goodnight, unaware that a miracle was just on the horizon. Later that night, sneaky burglars crept into the Ptosis house. The two burglars were tiptoeing through the dark quiet rooms when they came upon Halitosis.
The next morning, the Ptosis family awoke to find two burglars passed out cold on their living room floor. It was a miracle! The Ptosis family got a big reward for turning in the crooks, and soon Halitosis was the most famous crime-fighting dog in the country.
In the end, Mr. and Mrs. Ptosis changed their minds about finding a new home for Hallie. They decided to keep their wonderful watchdog after all, because life without Halitosis just wouldn’t make any sense.
Wow, that’s a really lovely story!
