Easy Frog Drawing Tutorial for Kids

Let’s Draw a Frog Together!

Hi there, little artist! Today, we are going to learn how to draw a cute frog. Frogs are fun and friendly creatures that love to hop around. Are you ready to start drawing? Let’s go!

What You Need

Before we start, make sure you have some paper and crayons or colored pencils. You can use any colors you like to make your frog special!

Step 1: Draw the Frog’s Body

First, let’s draw a big oval shape in the middle of your paper. This will be the frog’s body. Imagine it’s like a big egg. Can you draw that?

Step 2: Add the Frog’s Head

Now, let’s draw a smaller circle on top of the oval. This circle is the frog’s head. Make sure it touches the top of the big oval.

Step 3: Draw the Frog’s Eyes

Frogs have big, round eyes. Draw two circles on top of the frog’s head. These are the eyes. Inside each circle, draw a smaller circle and color it in. These are the frog’s eyeballs!

Step 4: Give the Frog a Smile

Let’s make our frog happy! Draw a big smile under the eyes. You can make it as big as you want. Frogs love to smile!

Step 5: Add the Frog’s Legs

Frogs have strong legs for jumping. Draw two long lines coming down from the bottom of the oval. These are the frog’s back legs. Then, draw two shorter lines on each side of the oval for the front legs.

Step 6: Draw the Frog’s Feet

At the end of each leg, draw three little circles. These are the frog’s toes. Frogs have webbed feet, so you can draw lines between the toes to show this.

Step 7: Color Your Frog

Now it’s time to color your frog! Frogs can be green, yellow, or even red. Use your favorite colors to make your frog look amazing. Don’t forget to color the eyes and the smile too!

Great Job!

Wow, you did an amazing job drawing your frog! Frogs are so much fun to draw and color. You can even draw a pond or some lily pads around your frog to make it look like it’s in its home. Keep practicing, and soon you’ll be able to draw all kinds of animals!

Fun Frog Facts

Did you know that frogs can jump really far? Some frogs can jump up to 20 times their own body length! Frogs also love to eat bugs and can catch them with their long, sticky tongues. Isn’t that cool?

Thanks for drawing with me today. I hope you had fun and learned something new. Keep drawing and exploring the world of art!

  1. What colors did you choose for your frog, and why did you pick those colors? Do you think real frogs can be those colors too?
  2. Have you ever seen a real frog? What did it look like, and what was it doing? If you haven’t seen one, where do you think you might find a frog?
  3. Frogs can jump really far! Can you think of any other animals that are good at jumping? How do you think they use their jumping skills in the wild?
  1. Frog Observation Walk: Take a walk in a nearby park or garden with your child. Look for real frogs or pictures of frogs in books or on signs. Ask your child to observe the colors and shapes they see. Can they spot any frogs? How do the frogs move? Encourage them to describe what they see and compare it to the frog they drew.
  2. Frog Jump Game: Create a fun game where your child can pretend to be a frog. Use a tape measure to see how far they can jump. Explain that some frogs can jump up to 20 times their body length. Measure your child’s height and see if they can jump 20 times that length. This helps them understand the concept of measurement and the amazing jumping ability of frogs.
  3. Frog Habitat Craft: Using a shoebox or a small container, help your child create a frog habitat. Use colored paper, clay, or natural materials like leaves and twigs to make a pond scene. Encourage them to place their drawn frog in the habitat. Discuss what frogs need to live, such as water, food, and a safe place to rest.
