Discussion Questions

  • Have you ever seen any of these vehicles in real life? Where were you, and what were they doing?
  • If you could drive or ride in any of these vehicles for a day, which one would you choose and why?
  • Can you think of a time when one of these vehicles helped you or someone you know? What happened, and how did it make you feel?

Lesson Activities

  • Build Your Own Vehicle: Gather some recycled materials like cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, and bottle caps. Use these materials to create your own vehicle. It could be a car, a truck, or even a new type of vehicle you invent! Think about what job your vehicle would do and how it would help people. Share your creation with your friends and explain its special job.

  • Vehicle Sound Match: Listen to different sounds that vehicles make, like the siren of an ambulance or the “vroom” of a car engine. Try to match each sound with the correct vehicle. You can make the sounds yourself or find recordings online. Discuss with your friends or family why each vehicle makes its specific sound and how it helps people recognize them.

  • Neighborhood Vehicle Hunt: Take a walk around your neighborhood with an adult and look for different vehicles. Can you spot an ambulance, a fire truck, or a garbage truck? Count how many different types of vehicles you see and talk about what each one is doing. Draw a picture of your favorite vehicle from the walk and describe its job.
