Today’s Story: “Finding Hello”

We have a special book called “Finding Hello” by Shelly Wong. Are you excited to start?

Let’s Find Hello!

“Hello” is a small word, but it can help us make new friends and have fun. Sometimes, “hello” can be hard to find. Let’s go on an adventure to find it!

First, we find the letter H where the butterflies fly. Next, we see the letter E up in a tree, trying to be free. The letter L is in a big book, hiding because it was a little scared. The other L is hiding too, trying not to be seen. The letter O is the trickiest. It’s tiny and rolls away while everyone else plays. It hides in a jar, wishing to be free like a star.

Finally, we find “hello”! It took some time, but now that we have it, everything is just fine.

Goodbye for Now!

Wasn’t “Finding Hello” a sweet story? If you liked it, you can get your own copy of the book. Thank you for joining us today! We hope to see you again soon. Remember to have fun and take care of yourself and your family!

Bye-bye!

  • What do you think makes the word “hello” special? Can you think of a time when saying “hello” made you feel happy or helped you make a new friend?
  • If you were on an adventure to find the letters of “hello,” where would you look for them? Can you imagine any fun places where the letters might hide?
  • Why do you think the letter O wanted to be free like a star? Have you ever felt like you wanted to explore or be free? What would you like to do if you could go on an adventure?
  1. Letter Hunt Adventure: Go on a letter hunt around your home or classroom! Look for objects that start with the letters H, E, L, and O. Can you find a hat for H, an egg for E, a leaf for L, and an orange for O? Take turns with your friends or family to see who can find the most objects. This will help you remember the letters that make up “hello” and see how they are part of our everyday life!

  2. Create Your Own “Hello” Story: Use your imagination to create a story about finding “hello” in different places. Draw pictures of where you might find each letter. Maybe the H is hiding in a house, the E is on an elephant, the L is in a library, and the O is in an ocean! Share your story with your friends or family and see what creative ideas they come up with too.

  3. Friendly “Hello” Game: Practice saying “hello” in different ways. Try saying it with a big smile, a funny voice, or even in another language! See how many different ways you can say “hello” and notice how it makes you and others feel. This game will help you understand the power of a friendly greeting and how it can make someone’s day brighter.

Hi everyone! Welcome back to the Storytime Family. How are you today? Did you have fun at school? Did you get to play outside with your friends? I hope you’re ready to sit down and read a book with us!

Today we have a book called “Finding Hello” by Shelly Wong. Should we get started?

“Finding Hello”

Hello, it is a tiny word, an easy word. They say hello will make a friend, a chance for me to play. But it is very hard to find. I will need to search high and low; it is always hiding. Where, oh where did it go?

I find the H deep within where all the butterflies swim. I find the E up in a tree, shaking and trying to break free. I find the L in a big book where I was too afraid to look. The other L is hiding in fright, trying its best to stay out of sight. The O is the hardest of all; it is so tiny and small, always rolling far away while you others laugh and play. It stands afar, trapped in a jar, waiting and hoping to be free like a star.

Well, there you are, hello! Finding you took some time, but here you are now, so I will be just fine.

Hello!

And that was “Finding Hello.” That was super short but super sweet, don’t you think? If you’d like to own a copy of this cute book, the links to purchase it are in the description below.
