Welcome, Ocean Explorers!

Are you ready to dive under the waves and explore the ocean with us? Let’s go on an adventure together!

Meet Our Friends

Hi, I’m Cal! I love exploring the ocean with my friends. Let’s meet them!

Hi, I’m Tinker! It’s great to see you. We’re curious about the colors of fish in the ocean. Want to join us?

Hi, I’m Dean! Come along, and we’ll learn something new together!

Discovering Colorful Fish

Look at all the different fish and their beautiful colors! Let’s name the colors together.

What color is the trumpetfish? It’s yellow, just like a banana!

And what about the clownfish? It’s orange, just like me, Tinker!

Oh, look at that fish! Is it blue? Yes, it’s a blue tang fish. Great job!

What Do Fish Eat?

It looks like the fish are hungry. But what do they eat?

Fish eat things like algae, little fish, and sea plants called seaweed. Seaweed looks like long leaves that sway underwater. Can you sway like seaweed?

Feeding the Fish

Now that we know what fish eat, let’s feed them! Should we give them bananas or seaweed? That’s right, seaweed!

Watch as the fish gather around to eat. Great job, ocean explorers!

What a Fun Day!

We had so much fun exploring the ocean and learning about fish colors and what they eat. Thanks for joining us!

Keep exploring and discovering new things. See you next time!

  • What is your favorite color of fish that you learned about, and why do you like that color?
  • Can you think of any other animals that have bright colors like the fish we saw? Why do you think they have those colors?
  • If you could explore the ocean, what would you like to see or discover? Have you ever seen something interesting in the water, like at the beach or in an aquarium?
  1. Color Hunt: Go on a color hunt around your home or classroom! Find objects that match the colors of the fish we learned about. Can you find something yellow like the trumpetfish, orange like the clownfish, or blue like the blue tang fish? Share what you find with your friends or family.

  2. Seaweed Sway Dance: Let’s pretend to be seaweed swaying in the ocean! Play some gentle music and move your arms and body like seaweed swaying underwater. Can you sway slowly and then quickly? Invite your friends to join and create a seaweed garden together!

  3. Fish Feeding Time: Create a simple craft by drawing or cutting out pictures of fish and their food. Use colored paper or crayons to make seaweed, algae, and little fish. Arrange them on a table and pretend to feed your fish friends. Discuss why each fish might like different types of food.

Ocean explorers, here we go under the waves! Adventure awaits!

[Music]

When we’re playing and learning with friends together, the fun never ends! Ocean explorers, ocean explorers!

Hi, I’m Cal! Together with my friends, I explore the wonders of the ocean.

Hi, I’m Tinker! It’s so nice to see you! We were just wondering what colors we can find on fish in the ocean.

Hi, I’m Dean! Want to explore with us? Fantastic! Explorer friends, how are you? Come along with us, and we’ll learn something new!

Hi, Opus! Hi, Neptune! I think I found some colorful fish!

Wow, look at all the different kinds of fish and all the different colors! This is great! Now we can explore the different colors of the fish in the ocean. Want to help us name the colors? Let’s do it!

What color is the trumpetfish?

[Music]

All right, the trumpetfish is yellow! It’s actually long and yellow like a banana.

I wish I had a banana! Wait, I do have a banana!

Now, what color is the clownfish?

The clownfish is orange, just like me! Whoa, you and the clownfish are the same color, Tinker! That’s awesome!

Oh, oh, look at that fish too! Want to try again?

Is it blue?

Hmm, yes it is blue! Way to go! That fish is a blue tang fish. Sometimes I get my colors confused.

We’re all still learning, finding our way, trying and smiling, getting better each day!

Hey, it looks like the fish are looking for something. Hmm… I think they’re hungry!

I think they are! Whoa, my aunt passed me lots of other snacks too—more bananas, apples, crackers, cheese! It’s so nice of you!

I don’t want to share, Dean, but I don’t think fish eat those foods.

Are you sure?

Don’t tell my aunt!

So, what do fish eat?

When you’re feeling curious and you want to know, take a closer look and your mind will grow!

[Music]

Fish eat food like algae, other little fish, and sea plants. Those sea plants right there are called seaweed. They look like long leaves and they sway underwater like this.

Can you sway like the seaweed?

That was fun!

So now that we know what fish eat, let’s feed them!

Okay, what should we feed the fish? Bananas or seaweed?

Seaweed, that’s right!

Blue tang fish, time for lunch!

You remembered, Blue Neptune!

Look what’s happening when the food goes in the water! The fish get excited and gather around to eat! Great job, ocean explorers! We named the colors of different fish and we even figured out what some of them like to eat!

Well, I guess there’s only one thing left to do.

What a day! What a day! It’s so much fun playing with friends by the ocean!

Down below the water, up on the shore, so much to learn, so much to explore!

We’re so glad you could play with us, Tinker and Cal!

[Music]

What a day! What a day! It’s so much fun playing with friends by the ocean!
