Hey there! Are you ready to have some fun with numbers? Today, we’re going to play with the number five. Let’s get started!

Wiggle and Freeze!

Let’s start by wiggling! Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, and then freeze! Can you do it? Let’s try again! Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, and freeze! Great job!

Counting Fingers

Now, let’s count our fingers together. Can you show me your hand? Let’s count: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Yay! We have five fingers! Isn’t that fun?

Finger Family Fun

Let’s sing about our Finger Family! Wiggle your fingers and sing along: “Finger Family, Finger Family!” Wiggle, wiggle, and freeze! Good job!

Counting Toes

Now, let’s count our toes. Can you point to your toes? Let’s count: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Hooray! We have five toes, too!

Lesson Activities

  1. Five Senses Exploration: Let’s use our five senses to explore the world around us! Can you find five things you can see, hear, touch, taste, and smell? Share what you find with a friend or family member. For example, you might see a colorful flower, hear a bird chirping, feel a soft teddy bear, taste a sweet apple, and smell a yummy cookie. What did you discover?

  2. Five Object Hunt: Go on a treasure hunt around your home or classroom to find five objects. They can be anything you like! Once you’ve found them, try to group them in different ways. Can you group them by color, size, or shape? Share your groups with a friend and see if they can guess your sorting rule!

  3. Five Little Ducks Storytime: Gather around for a story about five little ducks. As you listen, use your fingers to act out the story. Can you show how many ducks are left each time one swims away? After the story, draw a picture of the five little ducks and share your drawing with the class.
