  • Can you think of any sight words that you see a lot in your favorite storybooks? Which ones do you remember?
  • Why do you think it’s helpful to know sight words when you’re reading a story? How does it make reading easier for you?
  • Have you ever tried to find sight words around you, like on signs or in books? What words did you find, and where did you see them?
  • Sight Word Scavenger Hunt: Go on a scavenger hunt around your house or classroom to find sight words. Look for them in books, magazines, or even on labels and signs. Each time you find a sight word, write it down on a piece of paper. How many can you find? Share your list with a friend or family member and see if they can find any more!

  • Create a Sight Word Story: Use some of the sight words you’ve learned to create your own short story. Draw pictures to go along with your story. Once you’re done, share your story with the class or a family member. Can you use at least five sight words in your story?

  • Sight Word Bingo: Make a bingo card with some of the sight words you’ve learned. Ask a friend or teacher to call out the words, and mark them on your card when you hear them. The first one to get a line of words marked off wins! This is a fun way to practice recognizing sight words quickly.
