Hi there! I’m Cory Carson. I love to have fun and go on adventures with my friends. Today, I have a special job to do. Let’s find out what it is!
Today is garbage day, and I’m super excited! My friend Gary Garbage is here with his big garbage truck. He picks up all the trash from our neighborhood. But guess what? He needs a helper, and that’s me!
Gary asked if I wanted to be his “Junior Garbage Apprentice.” That means I get to help him with his important job. I said, “Yes, please!” because I love helping out. Let’s see what we find in the trash today!
As we drive around, we find all sorts of things in the trash. There’s banana-flavored go-go juice, an old radio, and even a magazine. But wait! We found a bottle that can be recycled. Recycling is when we use old things to make new things, and it’s great for the Earth!
Gary and I make sure to put the bottle in the right place so it can be recycled. We care about keeping our planet clean and happy. Do you like to recycle too?
Oh no! The Fendersons forgot to put their trash out. I said I could help, but the trash can was really big and heavy. I tried my best, but I accidentally lost the trash. It went flying into space! Can you believe it?
Gary thought it was amazing that the trash went to space. He even called me a “Trash-tronaut,” which is like an astronaut for trash. How cool is that? Maybe one day, I’ll go to space too!
Even though I made a mistake, Gary said I did a great job. Being a Junior Garbage Apprentice was so much fun, and I learned a lot about helping the environment. I can’t wait for my next adventure!
Thanks for joining me today. Remember, you can help keep the Earth clean by recycling and taking care of your trash. See you next time!
Recycling Scavenger Hunt: Go on a scavenger hunt around your home or classroom to find items that can be recycled. Look for things like paper, plastic bottles, and cans. Once you’ve collected them, sort them into different bins for recycling. Talk about why recycling is important and how it helps the Earth.
Create a Recycled Art Project: Use some of the items you found during the scavenger hunt to create a piece of art. You can make a collage, a sculpture, or even a robot! Use glue, tape, or string to put your art together. Share your creation with your friends and explain how you used recycled materials to make something new.
Imagine and Draw Your Own Adventure: Just like Cory became a “Trash-tronaut,” imagine your own adventure where you help the environment. Draw a picture of yourself on this adventure. Are you exploring the ocean to clean up trash, or maybe planting trees in a forest? Share your drawing and story with the class.
Sure! Here’s a sanitized version of the transcript, removing any unnecessary details and maintaining the essence of the conversation:
