Let’s Visit the Doctor!

Hey kids! Today is a special day because it’s checkup day! Doctors are coming to help us make sure we’re healthy and strong.

Meeting the Doctor

Let’s say hello to the doctor! She’s here to check our ears. She says, “Let me take a close look inside your ears.” Isn’t that cool?

Open Wide!

Next, the doctor wants to check our throat. She asks us to open our mouths wide. “Let me take a close look here,” she says. It’s like a little adventure!

How Tall Are You?

Now, it’s time to see how much we’ve grown. The doctor asks us to stand straight and still. “Wow, you’ve grown!” she says happily.

Let’s Check Our Weight

The doctor also checks how heavy or light we are. “It’s just fine!” she says with a smile. We are doing great!

Listening to Our Heart

Here comes another doctor to listen to our heartbeat. “Listen to the sound of your heart,” he says. It’s like music inside us!

Breathe In, Breathe Out

Now, let’s check our breathing. The doctor asks us to breathe in and breathe out. “Let me listen carefully,” he says. We are doing awesome!

Time for a Little Shot

It’s time to get a tiny shot. Don’t worry! We can count to five together. One, two… and it’s all done! That was easy, right?

All Done!

Hooray! Our checkup is complete. It was so much fun, and there’s no need to be scared of doctors. They are here to help us stay healthy. We love doctors!

Discussion Questions

  • Have you ever visited a doctor? What was your favorite part of the visit, and why?
  • Why do you think it’s important for doctors to check our ears, throat, and heart? Can you think of other things doctors might check during a visit?
  • How do you feel about getting a shot? What are some ways you can make it less scary or even fun?

Lesson Activities

  1. Doctor Role Play: Gather some toy doctor tools or make your own using household items. Take turns playing the doctor and the patient with your friends or family. Use a toy stethoscope to listen to each other’s heartbeats, pretend to check ears, and measure height. Talk about how it feels to be the doctor and the patient. What did you learn about being healthy?

  2. Healthy Habits Chart: Create a chart with your family to track healthy habits like brushing teeth, washing hands, eating fruits, and getting enough sleep. Each day, put a sticker or draw a smiley face next to the habits you completed. Discuss why these habits are important for staying healthy, just like the doctor helps us do during checkups.

  3. Heartbeat Music: Find a quiet place and put your hand on your chest to feel your heartbeat. Try to clap or tap along to the rhythm of your heartbeat. Can you make a song out of it? Share your heartbeat music with your friends or family and see if they can feel their heartbeat too. Talk about why our heartbeats are important and how they help us stay alive and healthy.
