Hello, friends! Welcome to Circle Time with Caroline and her friend Sophie. Today, we’re diving into the world of healthy habits. But first, don’t forget to subscribe to catch our next Circle Time session!
Healthy habits are actions we take to keep our bodies and minds in good shape. Some of our friends think healthy habits include eating fruits like bananas, apples, or even oranges. Others suggest taking naps, running outside, or brushing teeth. But how do we remember all these habits?
Caroline suggests thinking of healthy habits in groups:
Caroline shares a story about Ollo, who loves riding his bike. Despite encountering obstacles like stones and holes, Ollo keeps fixing his bike and continues his journey. This story highlights the importance of exercise and perseverance.
Caroline introduces her friend Paul, who shares his healthy habits. Paul enjoys eating vegetables, exercising, and reading books. He demonstrates how to do jumping jacks, a fun exercise that warms up the whole body. Paul also emphasizes the importance of brushing teeth twice a day to prevent cavities and gum disease.
Paul reminds us that getting a good night’s sleep is crucial for energy and recovery. He likes to relax by reading a book before bed, setting goals like reading two chapters or 20 pages. After a full night’s sleep, Paul uses a fun song to wake up his mind and body, preparing for a new day.
Caroline and Paul showcase drawings and schedules sent by friends, highlighting their healthy activities. From organized schedules to creative drawings, everyone shares their unique ways of staying healthy.
Thank you for joining Circle Time today. We hope you learned something new about healthy habits. Feel free to share your drawings or photos of healthy activities with us. Until next time, goodbye from Caroline, Paul, and the Khan Academy Kids Team!
Healthy Habits Scavenger Hunt: Go on a scavenger hunt around your home or classroom to find items that represent different healthy habits. For example, look for a toothbrush for hygiene habits, a fruit for nutrition habits, and a ball for exercise habits. Once you find these items, share with a friend or family member why each item is important for staying healthy.
Create a Healthy Habits Chart: Make a chart with three columns labeled “Hygiene,” “Nutrition,” and “Exercise.” Throughout the week, draw or write down the healthy habits you practice each day under the correct column. At the end of the week, review your chart and see which habits you did the most and which ones you can do more often.
Story Time with Ollo: Imagine you are Ollo from the story. Draw a picture of an adventure you would like to go on while riding your bike. Think about the obstacles you might face and how you would overcome them. Share your story with a friend or family member and talk about why exercise is important for staying healthy.
