Welcome to Storytime!

Hello, friends! How are you feeling today? Are you having a fun day? Have you been reading lots of books? That’s awesome! Thank you for joining us to read together.

Waiting for a Baby

Today, we have a special book called “Hello In There: A Big Sister’s Book of Waiting” by Joe Wittek. It’s all about waiting for a new baby to arrive!

In the story, a big sister is waiting for her baby sibling who is still in Mama’s belly. She wonders if it’s dark in there and tells the baby not to worry because she is right there, ready to welcome them with love and fun surprises like strawberries and cupcakes!

She thinks about the baby a lot and even draws pictures of what they might look like. She sings songs loudly so the baby can hear her. She is so excited to become a big sister!

When the baby finally arrives, she is all dressed up to welcome them home. She is so happy to be a big sister!

Do you have a baby brother or sister, or are you waiting for one? It’s such an exciting time!

Love Everywhere

Next, we have another lovely story called “I Love You Wherever You Are” by T.A. Gumpert. This book is all about love that is always with you, no matter where you go!

The story tells us that love is like a compass in our hearts, guiding us even when we’re driving in a car or playing in the yard with friends. Love is there when it’s cold and dark, shining like the moon and stars.

Even when things get a little hard, love is like a warm hug, keeping us safe and happy. And if we’re ever far apart, love is still there, like twinkling stars in the sky.

Remember, you are always loved, no matter where you are!

  • Have you ever waited for something exciting, like a new baby or a special event? How did it make you feel while you were waiting?
  • Can you think of a time when you felt loved, even if you were not with your family or friends? What made you feel that way?
  • If you could welcome a new baby into your family, what fun surprises or activities would you plan for them?
  1. Draw Your Family: Just like the big sister in the story, draw a picture of your family. Include everyone you love, even if they are far away. Use lots of colors to show how happy they make you feel. Share your drawing with your classmates and talk about why each person is special to you.

  2. Love Hunt: Go on a “Love Hunt” around your home or classroom. Look for things that remind you of love, like a cozy blanket, a favorite toy, or a family photo. Take turns sharing what you found and why it makes you feel loved. This will help you see that love is everywhere, just like in the story!

  3. Sing a Song: Just like the big sister sang to her baby sibling, think of a song that makes you feel happy and loved. Sing it with your friends or family. You can even make up your own song about love and share it with the class. Singing is a wonderful way to show and feel love!

Hi everyone! Welcome back to the Storytime Family. How are you feeling today? Are you having a good day? Have you been reading lots of books on your own? That sounds great! Thank you for taking the time to read with us today.

We have “Hello In There: A Big Sister’s Book of Waiting” by Joe Wittek and illustrated by Christine Rousey. Can you guess what this book is about? Well, let’s find out!

“Hello In There: A Big Sister’s Book of Waiting.”

You’re in there and I’m out here, outside Mama’s belly. I’m waiting for you. Is it dark in there? Don’t worry, I’m right here. My light will chase away the shadows. Ta-da! All kinds of sweet surprises are waiting for you, like strawberries and cupcakes—my favorites!

I think about you a lot while I wait. I draw pictures of what you might look like. Will you have straight hair like me? Look, it’s growing! I love to sing you songs. I sing extra loud so that you can hear me.

Ah, look at how big the baby’s getting! It’s nighttime—are you sleeping? I’m too excited to sleep. You are already part of the family. When Mama comes to sit with me, I feel like we’re all sitting together.

Your little house must be nice and cozy, but it’s spring out here and we’re all waiting for you to come out and play. Oh, the baby is really comfy now. There is so much we will do together! In the summer, we’ll go sailing and swim like fish. I can’t wait!

Okay, little baby, swimming like a fish! My waiting is almost done. I get all dressed up to welcome you home. Doesn’t she look so pretty?

Hello baby, you’re finally here, and I am finally a big sister! That must be so exciting!

And that was “Hello In There: A Big Sister’s Book of Waiting.” Do you have a baby brother or a baby sister, or are you waiting for one? Do you remember how exciting it was for you?

Well, give your brother or sister a big hug and let them know how much you love them. And don’t forget to thank your parents for the gift of a baby sister or baby brother!

I love you wherever you are by T.A. Gumpert. Let’s get started!

I love you wherever you are, little bug. It’s been true from the start. From the first time I held you in my arms, I looked at you and gave you my whole heart.

Little bug, this will always be true. I love you wherever you are.

And when we’re driving in a car with lots of stops and lots of starts, you have the compass of my heart.

Little bug, it’s true on the road too. I love you wherever you are.

And when you’re playing in a yard with toys and friends and a Saint Bernard, you have the joy in my heart.

Little bug, it’s true in good times too. I love you wherever you are.

And when it’s getting cold and dark enough to see the moon and stars, you have the warm light of my heart.

Little bug, it’s true in the cold too. I love you wherever you are.

And when life starts to feel a little hard, when it seems like things could fall apart, you have the shelter of my heart.

Little bug, it’s true in tough times too. I love you wherever you are.

And if we’re ever far apart, even if it feels like the farthest of far, little bug, you are always in my heart.

It’s true in the wide open blue. I love you wherever you are.

Remember my love when you look at the stars. You have my light, you have my heart.

On good days and bad days, near or far, my little one, my beautiful bug, I love you wherever you are.

Hope you enjoy “I Love You Wherever You Are.” When you buy a copy of this book, it also comes with a bag of cute little stars that you can stick on your ceiling to remind you that you are so loved.
