In the “Let’s Move and Groove!” lesson, children engage in a series of fun physical movements that encourage creativity and coordination. They explore various actions such as going up and down, swaying side to side, spinning in circles, and jumping in and out, all while using imaginative scenarios to enhance their experience. The lesson emphasizes the joy of movement and invites participants to repeat the activities for added enjoyment.
  1. Can you show me how to go up and down like we’re on a ride?
  2. What do you feel when we sway side to side like the wind?
  3. Can you spin around and tell me how it makes you feel?

Let’s Move and Groove!

Up and Down

Let’s pretend we’re on a fun ride! First, we go up, up, up like we’re reaching for the sky. Then, we go down, down, down like we’re sliding down a slide. Isn’t that fun?

Side to Side

Now, let’s sway side to side, like we’re dancing with the wind. Can you feel the breeze as we move?

Round and Round

Let’s spin around in a circle, round and round. It’s like we’re twirling in a big, happy dance!

Back and Front

Now, let’s step back, back, back, like we’re playing a fun game of hide and seek. Then, we move front, front, front, like we’re saying hello to a friend!

Low and High

Let’s crouch down low, low, low, like we’re tiny little ants. Then, we stretch up high, high, high, like we’re tall giraffes reaching for the leaves!

Narrow and Wide

Let’s make ourselves narrow, narrow, narrow, like we’re squeezing through a tiny door. Then, we spread out wide, wide, wide, like we’re big, fluffy clouds in the sky!

In and Out

Let’s jump in, in, in, like we’re hopping into a cozy blanket. Then, we jump out, out, out, like we’re leaping into a big, sunny field!

Let’s Do It Again!

Now that we know all the moves, let’s do it again! Up, down, side to side, round and round, back, front, low, high, narrow, wide, in, and out. Moving is so much fun!

  • Can you think of a time when you moved up and down, like on a playground slide or a swing? How did it make you feel?
  • When you sway side to side or spin around, what other things in nature or in your surroundings move in a similar way? Can you describe them?
  • What is your favorite way to move your body? Is it jumping, spinning, or maybe something else? Why do you like it?
  1. Movement Scavenger Hunt: Go on a movement scavenger hunt around your home or classroom. Can you find places where you can move up and down, side to side, or round and round? For example, you might find stairs to go up and down or a space to spin around. Share your discoveries with a friend or family member!

  2. Create a Movement Story: Use your imagination to create a story using the movements you’ve learned. For example, pretend you’re a bird flying up high and then swooping down low, or a fish swimming side to side. Draw pictures of your story and share it with the class. Can you act out your story using the movements?

  3. Movement Observation Walk: Take a walk outside and observe how things move in nature. Do you see leaves swaying side to side in the wind? Or maybe a squirrel jumping up and down? Try to mimic these movements and think about how they are similar to the ones you’ve learned. Discuss with a partner what you observed and how it made you feel.

Here we go up, up, up
Here we go down, down, down
Here we go side to side to side
Here we go round and round and round
Here we go back, back, back
Here we go front, front, front
Here we go low, low, low
Here we go high, high, high
Here we go narrow, narrow, narrow
Here we go wide, wide, wide
Here we go in, in, in
Here we go out, out, out
Here we go up, up, up
Here we go down, down, down
Here we go side to side to side
Here we go round and round and round
Here we go back, back, back
Here we go front, front, front
Here we go low, low, low
Here we go high, high, high
Here we go narrow, narrow, narrow
Here we go wide, wide, wide
Here we go in, in, in
Here we go out, out, out
Here we go up, up, up
