How to Draw a Happy Honeybee

Hey there, little artist! Today, we’re going to learn how to draw a happy honeybee. It’s going to be so much fun, and you’ll get to use your imagination and creativity. Let’s get started!

What You’ll Need

Before we begin, make sure you have some paper, a pencil, and crayons or markers. Are you ready? Let’s go!

Step 1: Draw the Bee’s Body

First, let’s draw the bee’s body. Imagine an oval shape, like an egg. Draw this shape in the middle of your paper. This will be the bee’s body.

Step 2: Add Stripes

Now, let’s give our bee some stripes! Draw a few lines across the bee’s body. Bees usually have black and yellow stripes, so you can color them in later.

Step 3: Draw the Bee’s Head

Next, let’s draw a circle on top of the body for the bee’s head. Make sure it’s a little smaller than the body. Our bee is starting to take shape!

Step 4: Add the Eyes and Smile

Let’s make our bee look happy! Draw two big circles on the head for the eyes. Inside each circle, draw a smaller circle and color it in. Now, draw a big smile under the eyes. Our bee is smiling at you!

Step 5: Draw the Wings

Bees need wings to fly! Draw two big wings on each side of the bee’s body. They look like big, round leaves. You can make them as big as you like!

Step 6: Add the Antennae

Now, let’s give our bee some antennae. Draw two lines coming out of the top of the bee’s head. Add a little circle at the end of each line. These help the bee feel around.

Step 7: Color Your Bee

It’s time to color your bee! Use yellow and black for the stripes, and any color you like for the wings. You can even add some flowers around your bee to make it look like it’s in a garden.

All Done!

Great job! You’ve drawn a happy honeybee. Remember, you can always draw more bees and create a whole buzzing family. Keep practicing and have fun drawing!

  • What do you think makes a honeybee happy, just like the one you drew? Can you think of things that make you feel happy too?
  • Have you ever seen a real bee before? What did it look like, and what was it doing? How is it similar or different from the bee you drew?
  • If you could add something special to your bee drawing, like a hat or a flower, what would it be and why? How would it make your bee unique?
  1. Bee Observation Walk: Take a walk outside with a grown-up and look for real bees. Observe how they move and what they do. Can you see their stripes and wings? Talk about what you notice. How do the bees help flowers? Draw a picture of what you saw when you get back home.

  2. Bee Craft: Create a 3D bee using craft materials. Use a toilet paper roll for the body, pipe cleaners for the antennae, and colored paper for the wings. Decorate your bee with stripes and a happy face. Display your bee at home and share what you learned about bees with your family.

  3. Bee Story Time: Imagine a day in the life of your happy honeybee. What adventures does it have? Where does it fly? What flowers does it visit? Draw a series of pictures to tell your bee’s story. Share your story with your classmates or family members and see if they can come up with their own bee adventures.
